Cool

phil,
Had my pagid disks and pads fitted yesterday
but they got the wrong brake lines in so
lines and new fluid not being done untill
next week.

Total bill came to less than half of your budget, as mentioned in a previous thread i was also looking at prodrive or AP but didn't want to spend more than 1K, so decided to try the pagids first.
Another alternative for you could be the Godspeed 335mm disks and pads which are well under 1k fitted.
I will let you know how i get on with the Pagids.

Hi Phil , As you have four pot calipers fitted already you can fit our 335mm disc and bell kit , It works as good as the Ap or Brembo kits , We know because we sell them as well , We offer it in a kit that comprises of , discs and bells , either drilled , grooved or both , fitting kit and mounting brackets and either greenstuff or mintex M1144 pads , the full kit is £550 inc VAT , and if you want them fitted we charge £95 . Hope this helps , Ian , godspeedbrakes.co.uk

Is there any real advantage of 6 pot over 4 then?

because if not the godspeed option looks good

Ian
I live in Southend could you recomend someone that would fit them locally? If I decided to go down that route

Phil, you will be lucky to get a proper AP/Brembo/Alcon kit for a grand. You could go to the likes of Godspeed/Hi-spec, they make kits using AP/Brembo calipers, but they make there own bells and caliper spacers. They also use different discs.

Mail me, I may have an option for you.

Phil , I have just changed the calipers on my rally car from AP 4 pots to AP six pots , I am trying to get 110% from every part of the car and the change in calipers has made a small difference , If you drove on the road the way you would need to to get the extra benefit of the 6 pots I dont think you would have a Licence for very long !!I do not know of anyone who fits brakes locally to you but any good mechanic can fit our kits very easily , Cheers , Ian

Ian,
What do you recommend as an upgrade for standard 4 pots on a 1999 with 16 inch rims. I do not want the expense of fitting 17 or 18 inch rims...so I'm looking for the biggest or best option under the 16 inchers...

Crusher , The most cost effective way of upgrading your brakes is to fit either standard sized discs but grooved , drilled or both with uprated pads , or we also do a disc and bell that is a direct swap . Other than that you can fit a slightly bigger disc with either AP or Brembo calipers but does start to get expensive for not a great deal more in performance . Hope this helps , Ian

Thanks Ian...how much are the various options?....I fancy grooved discs...don't want drilled ones cos they tend to crack around the holes....I also fancy separate bells...I presume they are aluminium ....When you do the kits...are the calipers exchanged in order to get the lovely looking ones that I've seen posted on scoobynet?....
Lastly...what's the damage if Alcon or Brembo calipers are used??

Thanks in anticipation....

Thanks for all your advice

Ian, Godspeed was a good option But after reviewing all options ( I even asked dealer about upgrades "Only do Prodrive Upgrade £1500 approx, its not worth just doing Disc's and pads" )

I have now gone down the pagid route with braided pipes and improved brake fluid
C/O Scoobysport

Also ordered the Scoobysport Rear Spoiler

Brakes Tommorow
Spoiler 6 Weeks

Thanks Again

Phil

Phil,

6 weeks on the spoiler - nightmare. I'm looking at the exact same thing as you (have e-mailed SS, but await a response).

Is the spoiler coming ready sprayed, or are you getting done locally?

Also, do you know if it has got a bottom, or is it two side pieces and the top? (as I said waiting on a response to my questions from SS!)

Cheers

Matt

Matt

I am lucky that my office is 2 Mins from Scoobysport so I popped into Pete's earlier to arrange brakes and spoiler

Pete's doing the supply and fit on the spoiler himself

Picture of spoiler below

I assume its two sides and a top

Sorry Phil,

Mine's a 99, so spoiler may not be the same.

Thanks anyway.

Thumbs up

Phil,
I'm still waiting for the brake lines and new fluid, but have allready noticed an improvement with the Pagid disks and pads, plus a major benefit has been the vast reduction in the brake dust generated by the Pagids.

Phil,
I have got a D R Motorsport STI7 rear spoiler fitted, not a straight swap for the std. one, needed to have 8 new holes drilled, but the finished result was worth it.
