Replacement Tyres for P1
#1
I need some advice on what to replace the PZero's with on my P1 (after only 6k miles..I hate them) If anyone has changed to another make and had better results please let me know. I have heard that the SO2/3's are v.good and the Goodyear F1 Eagle. What about Toyo's?
Cheers for any help and advice.

Viper,
I swapped from PZero's to Toyo's on my RB5WR. I felt the PZero's were not offering the grip I wanted/expected from the car when the tread pattern was only half worn. This was made clearer when we received our first large downpour of the year and the handling of the car became skittish. I put 4 Toyo's on about 1,500 miles ago and the problem has gone away. The car feels much more stable when cornering "enthusiastically" and any break-away is more progressive than the PZero's ever were.
I can't comment on the SO2's as I have never used them, but most people swapped to these before they were replaced by the SO3 version. The downside at the moment is that SO2's are rare as rocking horse sh1te because they are no longer produced, and SO3's are quite rare is certain sizes as they are new to the market.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice, I have sent you an email and I will seriously look into the price of a set of Toyo's, although SO2's are my preferred option at present.

Viper,
I have SO3's on my P1 and they are the best, I have had various but none has given me the grip, tyre wear and stability of these. I have done two track days the last one being Trax and several fast meets and the wear is minimal but the feel is fantastic.
I'm up in Littleborough so if you fancy a look mail me off line.

I changed from 205/45/17 Pzeros to 215/40/17 Goodyear F1's and have to say the grip is substantially better and wear seems no worse. The on Pzero's the car was more skittish, this changed when I put F1's on.
As for S02's, I suspect they are the best tyres for grip and the worst for wear.
I don't like Pzeros and wouldn't go back, I got F1's because I searched for deals and I got by far the best on the F1's (£303 for 4 fully fitted etc).

A couple of other people have recommended the Goodyear Eagle F1 to me, my next door neighbour has them on his Volvo T5R and he thinks they are great. He is also a traffic policeman and says that the Police only use them on their cars if possible. He drives a Volvo by day and night.
You got yours at an excellent price, I will probably go for the SO2 or 3's. I know someone up North will quite a few SO2's left at a reasonable price.
Thanks for the help.

What about the fact that you're changing tyre size? As I understand it you should stick with the 205/45/17 otherwise you are throwing the speedo out .
By the way what tyre pressures does the P1 handbook recommend for the 205/45/17?
Otis.

The rolling radius of 215/40/17 is almost exactly the same as that of 205/45/17, many owners have switched to the 215's as there is a much wider choice of tyres, trust me there is no appreciable difference.
