Question

Has anyone else changed the tyres on their P1 from the original 205/45 to 215/40 (17 inch)? Much better choice of tyre in this size. Comments please - have tried looking through old posts to no avail and need to buy new ones this weekend.

Not a P1, but I have swapped my 205/45/17's Pzeros for 215/40/17's Goodyear F1's on a Jap Wrx.

The grip in both the wet and dry was substantially improved, no problems with speedo etc as the rolling radius is very similar.

Also I got my F1s for a bargin £303 all in, so there are deals to be had.

John,

My experience so far is -

MY97 5 door- 4 years
Original Bridgestones(15") - Hard, little feedback.
Yokohama A520 (215/40/17)- reasonable dry grip, poor wet grip, good turn in and feedback, poor wear.
Bridgestone S02's (215/40/17) Exceptional wet and dry grip. soft edges that wear very quickly if cornering used to full. good turn in, reasonable feel. take a long time to bed in(500+ miles)
Changed to a P1 (4 months)- PZeros - compared to S02's - dry grip 8/10, wet grip - 7/10. good turn in - poor feel. (maybe because of car? Leda suspension was chaged over), edges standing up to wear very well.
From posts i've read previously, I think i'll try a set of Toyos next as they seem to be a bit in between the S02's and the PZeros.

Hope this helps

Steve.
