Hi Darren

Hi-Spec brakes are excellent. But if your keeping standard 4pots then the disc size is 315 x 28mm for 17"rims.

The 335 x 32mm kit is the Monster kit and has the Wilwood Ali 4pots, approx £700exVAT. Thats with a SIDC discount Now thats a flipping Excellent kit. I'm truly amazed at their performance.

Service wise Hi-Spec are very friendly and eager to help, but they do have a tendency to not call you back as they are very busy, so keep nagging them.

Darren, no joy on reporting back but I'd be very interested to see what you think of them.

Ian Godney at godspeed brakes has been supplying a similar kit which Ceri has on his car and rates. It would be good to see what you think of the Hispec stuff.

Cool

You should see what they can do to the old S/S Brembo kit

Either with the standard Brembo caliper like mine or the barking mad Pat spec kit...

MRK
The guy a hi=spec said that he would space out the calipers to make 32mm fit
Is this not true???
Meaning splitting the caliper in two and a piece fitted in the middle!!

Cheers

Darren

Go the whole hog and stick the 4pot AP's on. Mine worked out £1250 with braided hoses all round. their more than enough for fast road and track.

See you soon

Darren... did you get the Hispec stuff fitted. Im thinking of the 335mm Godspeed kit for my 4 pots but would be interested in your opinions (and pics if you have them ) of Hispecs offering. I've never seen this kit mentioned on their web site tho????

Darren
I have the Godspeed 335mm kit fitted using the original MY99 calipers. It is excellent value at about 500notes. Brake hard, then brake some more, then brake some more. I had the ABS cutting in on a really hard braking demo on a dry road. Doesnt get much better than that.(How can it?)

Problems i have had is knocking pads and squealing under light usage.(Both drove me crazy.) I cured both problems by fitting the first flat plate of the anti-squeal shim in, (stainless ones)from the original Subaru pads. However, slight wear of the mintex pads was required first to allow this shim to be fitted. Braking feel was ever so slightly reduced when I did this. Front wheels tramline slightly more and I believe that this is because the disc effectively spaces the front wheeels further out. Not anything to bother about though, but you may notice it. (I have 17 x 40 x 215 tyres fitted which may also have some bearing.)

I had the discs grooved only (i.e. not drilled)

I also have the goodridge hoses and dot5.1 oil.

I have the four pot monster kit on my MY01.. I must report they are excellent although I am going to change the pads from EBC to DS2500 pads as I find they don't give me the initial bite I would like.

see here -

Fizz.... very nice but you have replacement calipers. The thread was about the kit that keeps the Subaru caliper. They do look good tho .
