Is it OK to use Ferodo DS2500 pads with OE disks?
#1
MY01: I have loads of wear left on all my brakes (25k miles) apart from front pads. Would replacing with DS2500 pads prove a worthwhile upgrade or do I run the risk of warping / cracking OE disks (with fast road use)?
Ultimately, I'd like to use GpN + DS2500s all round, but it seems a waste to do this when my OEs have so much life left.

see your other post for a fuller reply, but no problems with this upgrade and no as long as they are bedded in properly you should't have any probs with std discs........
any info feel free to email me
cheers, alyn - as performance

I've had DS2500 (from Alyn) on std style replacement discs for 3000 miles or so, and they have been excellent. I haven't pushed them much recently but the disc wear is minimal. Cold performance is better than standard too.

Don't use this combo on track - 3 2km laps (plus 1 warm up and cool down) with ds2500's and OE discs warped them. If you can't afford to upgrade, and intend track work, then ds2000's are better imho - you'll get fade, but your discs will live.
The 2500/oe disc combo worked well (relatively speaking ) for hard road use though.
To be honest, I spent far too long messing around with cheap mods trying to get the best from the OE calipers - just fit a decent big brake kit and you can forget about brakes and get on with the suspension
