16 SO2 PP tyre sizes, any suggestions

New to this so pls bear with me
Went 4 a blast in the wet with secondhand PPP+PD suspension MY00 I just bought the SO2's on the car are gone much drifting fun but clearly closer to ice skating than driving! As here in greece there are potholes the size of volcanoes wanna keep the 16 wheels i have. My Q:
should i stick to the recomended 205/50/16 or can i play around with the 2 first dimensions?

Surely you can play around a bit but the Subaru have kind of limited space for bigger wheels and tires.
It is recomended to stay within 5% increase/decrease of the original tire size. That will leave you with these possible dimensions for 16" tires above 195 width:
205/45 205/50 205/55, 215/45 215/50, 225/40 225/45 225/50, 235/40 235/45 235/50, 245/40 245/45, 255/35 255/40 255/45.
Some of them may not fit the car, and some of them may not fit the wheels that great, although you could probably fit anything from 185 to 235 in width on a 7.5" wheel. On a 7" wheel 225 would be max recomended I think.

So how wide can you go with tyres on a standard UK MY00 Turbo? I don't want bigger rims than 17", but was thinking maybe 225 would be nice width wise.
Will it make much difference to the handling? Anybody thoughts?

Since noone else are replying I'll say: 225 may fit but it will depend on the tiremake. I don't think Bridgestone Potenza S02 will fit. Pirelli P-zero or P7000 is a better (narrower). 215 is the more reasonable however. Handling; wider tires will tramline easier, but will give more grip. I don't think there is much point in going from 215 to 225 for more grip as the grip you have is probably more than you can use in most conditions. 17s is a good idea though. All IMO.
