I used to think they were the mutt's nuts.

Now the discs are warped badly. Seven of the bolts which held the discs to the bells had sheared and I guess I didn't catch it in time before the discs were damaged.

Anyway, I replaced the bolts, guessed a torque fogure to do them up (and I was close, surprisingly enough) but the rotors are badly warped.

Can I get a call back from them? Can I hell.

When they supplied the kit (calipers, rotors and hoses) the hoses had the wrong fittings so I had to borrow a car to go and get the right ones as well.

I've also had the left front caliper blow the piston seals for no apparent reason once.

Being fair, though, when they are working right they are very good indeed. I'd use them again if their customer service was better, but as it stands I'd have to say that I'll be going elsewhere for replacement parts...

ive got the monster 6 pots on mine m8 and ive not had any problems at all,and when i phoned them for new pads, they had them in stock, and i collected them the same day,and they were cheaper than all the other suppliers i phoned.the only bad thing i can say about them is a very minor one, their website aint really up to scratch...

So is the TSL 6-pot kit likely to have problems too?

Wink

A good mate of mine has been running a set of Hi-Spec 6-pots for nearly 2 years now. Initially, they sent him the wrong brackets for his car. He then drove (about 200 miles) down to their premises and had a set made there that same day, and drove back up.

I have to say that he's never complained once about them (apart from the Mintex pads needing to be warmed up before they become effective) and I've experienced it braking ability on quite a few track days. This had me convinced that a Hi-Spec setup was what I needed for my UK Turbo.

After reading all the evidence though - I think I'll err on the side of caution
from now on as to whether or not I choose them. Maybe some Scooby owners
can vouch for Hi-Spec?

Glad someone has brought this to light otherwise I would've been none the wiser!

Thanks

thanks for the info, was thinking of going to them as they are only 10 miles from me but reading all the threads i think i'll be going somewhere else, after all the brakes are one of the most important parts of the car and i don't won't to risk my life and maybe someone else's on a firm that seems just not to care

As part of Underground Race UKs ongoing concern to bring our customers quality products with excellent technical support and after sales care I have now decided to stop endorsing and resaling these products . I dont wish for their service and product to reflect on Underground Race UK . We can still supply many brake upgrades from Brembo as wellas uprated pads from a chioce of suppliers.
Thank you for bringing this to light , Id like to say well done as a club/forum for the way in which you ve all clubbed together here to protect your members from poor quality service with out it breaking down into a slagging match.

TSL have now STOPPED doing Hi-Spec 6pot kits, becasue they had so many problems and , would you beleive it, customer support ! Now if Geoff cant work out that selling through TSL is probably one of the better ways to get recognition, and then not giving them a) decent kits b) supplier support .. well

I wil once again join with Rich (already on his site ) to say STAY AWAY.

and anyone want a set ?

Default I have some HiSpec monster 4s...

on my classic. I had them fitted by HiSpec at Dartford. When myself and Geoff went for the test drive afterwards, the pedal "shuddered" as we cruised to a stop. Geoff said it was the ABS (it was) but it was nothing to do with him as my car was like it when I turned up! Errr no! It turns out the fitter had damaged an ABS sensor.

I actually mentioned this as a possibility to Geoff at the time, at which point he became MOST irrate (including shouting) and reiterated it was nothing to do with him and seemed to insinuate that I was trying to rip him off.... He could do with some customer service training in my opinion....

Anyway as far as the product goes, I have had some Billet4s before on a Saxo and got these Monster4s on my classic. No probs with the actual product. I did have some juddering at high speed the other day at Oulton - but it went after a while - so I suspect it was pad deposits that I then burnt off. Actually quite pleased with the braking performance (slightly "weavy" under hard braking - and I mean HARD braking - but no big deal).

So mixed bag - now excuse me while I go and examine some bolts....

Angry

Well, phoned up Hi Spec, mentioned the problem (cracking disc) and how I only got the discs last Aug -

HS: we can sell you some replacements.

Me: Er no - you can replace them at your cost, they're faulty...

HS: Can you phone back tomorrow to have a talk to the owner

Watch this space.....

i have the big disc conversion on my gtir, have only got praise for them so far.

i did however deal with the kit car workshop as opposed to going through HS themselves as i too had heard that there customr service is not up to much.

shame cause of what ive seen of their kits they seem very good for the money IMO.

Angry More problems....

Well eventually got hold of "the man", organised a time, went round, "ah yes" he says "they need replacing dont they". Thats what I've been telling them all along ffs. Got handed some discs, bought some new pads, then left. Letter in post a few days later saying they've charged my credit card with the cost of the discs.

Wrote back saying no chance, they are replacements for faulty products. Now they want to sue me for deceit I think they put it. Ho hum!

Saving 200 quid is not worth the hassle of dealing with HiSPec, trust me - get some APs from Scooby Mania instead! Havent heard of anyone having problems with the AP kit.
