I'm after the Prodrive big brake conversion but have a couple of questions. Wondering if anyone could help?
1) Does the kit come with braided hoses?
2) Is it now being supplied with DS2000 pads, rather than DS3000 pads?
3) How much are pads and disks come replacement time?
Thanks
Andy

I thought about this but went for the AP 6 pots because the Prodrive conversion discs are £600, AP's are £400. I think these prices are plus VAT. Not sure about pads I'd guess £200

Sunil,
What reason did the insurance company give for adding cost for upgrading the brakes. I would have thought it would have stayed the same as you are making the car safer.
Does this apply to just some companies? and does this extend down to the cheaper end of brake upgrades?

Andy,
1) The Prodrive kit does not come with braided hoses.
2) I should imagine after the complaints about the DS3000 pads, Prodrive would be supplying DS2000's.
3) Prices for the discs I've heard are around £260 each, pads around £140.
I do have this kit fitted and have suffered the DS3000 problem but this is being resolved soon, apart from that it is simply awesome.
I would say that there would be hardly any performance difference between any of the big brake conversions.
I personally decided on Prodrive mainly to keep the 3 year warranty. Not sure on warranty claims with other brake kits if something went wrong, anyone?
And yes I had to pay £15 extra on my insurance for the privilege.
Hope this helps,
Rob.

Thanks for all the coments guys!
Sunil, some of us aren't made of money, and we have to earn, rather than steal it like you accountants!!
Sith, yes that's 10% of any additional modification. They are happy for me to have a Possum Link at 10% of the cost of installation. Even without doing the brakes!! Still 10% for the brakes!!!
Thanks Mike
Rob, thanks for an owers perspective!
Cheers

Sith, you are making the car safer but the insurance company will propose that as the car has better brakes, it will now be
1) Driven Faster
2) Be more desireable in the knickability stakes
So, the premium/excess will usually rise.
Andy, not me mate, its you IT plums that rip companies off for huge amounts of money. I did the next best sensible thing and joined an IT company

Sunil, as you say but another factor would be that if you mangle the front end, the cost of repair, including posh brakes, would be more.
