Question

Probably obvious question but who can share experience, which tyres are really good for winter with quite lot of snow, freezing. Considering pirelli snowsport, michellin pilot alp., dunlop ws or goodyear grip...any recomandations?

I have Michelin Alpin Sport on my MY99 and am very happy with them...

I had Michelin's last year - I found them too noisy and with limited wet grip. However, others seem to like them - maybe I had some bad/old ones (the dealer threw the winter tyres in for free.....).

Trying Dunlop's this year - only done a few k's so far, so can't comment on grip levels, but they're super quiet....much quieter than my Falken FK451's summers on 17" rims!

I have Michelin Alpin. They are ok (I mean it’s a good compromise between snow, dry, ice and wet) but they are not especially great on the wet and are not the best on the snow. I’ll go next year for Goodyear Ultra grip 6 or Continental TS790 which I guess are better as the Michelin.

Hope this helps!

I'll check sometime today and post - they're on the OE 16" rims and very, very good so far. Quiet and excellent wet grip....which probably means they're crap when it snows!

So where is the snow this year?

Yes, TS790 are great I have it on other Volvo S80 but last year when I went for new winter set were no 790`s with 205/50/16 size. But they are same /790 and Pilot alpin/ problem - poor braking at dry surface.
