EBC greenstuff are no good for 200+brake vehicles, only Redstuff should be used,I think even Ebc would recomend redstuff after much discussion on this forum.I have used Ebc brake pads & discs in the past and was not impressed, but i think they have changed there formula recently.

For the rear though I doubt there will be much of a problem, the fronts get a much harder workout which is why greenstuff aren't recommended for powerful cars. I don't know for sure, but personally I have stuck with OE pads for the rear as I don't consider it worth the bother uprating them.

It depends on the difference in braking force between front & rear.

I have big 335mm rotors on the front with DS2500 pads and the car picthes badly under heavy braking. I'm told you should balance the braking force and although the rears don't do as much, they do help keep the car flatter. As a result it allows more breaking force through the front before the tyres loose grip, so you effectively reduce the breaking distances.

I've ignored the rears and I have noticed the difference. if you find the car diving/pitching under braking you may need to fit some more abrasve pads on the rear.

The extra grip from the rear pads should be sufficient to keep the car flatteras it "pulls" the rear down - Bob Rawle commented on this a few days ago.

I skimped on the rears and paying for it.

Did you fit the same pad material front & back? and what are they?

Do a search, John Felstead tested all the EBC pads and wrote a very concise and unbiased review on all their pads.

Just done a search and it seems Red Stuff are the pads to go for, but they say you shouldnt mix the pads front and rear. Im just replacing the rear brakes so will this be ok?

Default Question for RON

RON,

Have you got the standard rear discs mate? I'm thinking that I am going for the Godspeed rears and Mintex 1144 pads, as per the front, but want to get it to brake flatter.

Ian does a large disc conversion for £595, way too much for me at the mo and I dont like the idea of the hand brake working on the inside of the ally bells. The standard size vented/grooved discs look pretty good though. Might buy a pair/pads.

Another group buy?

Yeah I totally agree that significant upgrades to the fronts such as 330mm+ discs and better pads should be matched at the rear at least with better pads. For just uprating the friction material at the front while retaining the 300mm discs like what I've done I don't really think it's necessary to uprate the rears.

Certainly on my car I don't notice much dive under braking, although the suspension will influence this a lot as well - mine has the Prodrive eibach/bilstein package which probably helps.
