Wet behind the ears...

Firstly, hi to all. I am now a proud owner of a 97MY scooby and virgin SIDC member, took a while to get there but it's amazing what you can do with a little finance adjustment here and there!
Enough of the waffle, I have already made a couple of mods, induction, exhaust, 17" wheels and cosmetics but I think brakes are next on the agenda!
On a NOW limited budget, has anyone got some good advice on a range of brake upgrades, i.e. is it better in the intrim to upgrade just the pads i.e. to Mintex, or should I purchase 2nd hand calipers instead/aswell ????
I would appreciate any advice, before I end up staking my pride & joy into the rear of a sloath like cossie!

Brakes, brakes & brakes!
The first thing anyone should upgrade before any performance enhancements, especially on a MY98 or earlier with the 2 pots.
I originally upgraded to Mintex 1155 front pads on my MY98 and these did improve things for road conditions. However I've taken to trackdays and more improvement was required. I considered the usual, uprated pads, disks, hoses, fluid, 4 pot calipers, etc but after much deliberation I finally bit the bullet and went for a set of AP's.
If you do a search of ScoobyNet you'll find that everyone who has upgraded to AP, Brembo, etc is very happy. Everyone else is always thinking of something else to try!
Hope this helps!

Put it this way...
In the year I have owned my Scoob, I have gone through 4 sets of discs and approximately 12 sets of pads. I wish I had gone for the full AP kit from the offset now.
