Can anyone (Johnfelstead) tell me where I can get Ferrodo DS 2000 pads from? I have been looking into upgrading my pads and disks and I have decided on the pads (finally)
cheers

Question

I was looking for a rear set & was going to ask the same question. I had the front discs replaced under warrenty (4pot on MY99) and the dealer replaced the pads with unprated prodrive pads. Upon looking in the box they were ferodo DS2000 (all done foc so we impressed with the dealer service) 3rd set of discs now in 38K miles.

Had ordered a set of rears as no stock and phoned today for a price. was told £100 - £130 for the set!!!!!

Ringing around Halfords show as stockists and a quick call to them confirmed that they could get in 24hrs at £36.99 set. Was told that the rears are for 94 onwards, does any one know that this is right?

Simon,

I believe that the MY99 brakes are the same as those fitted to later STI's. So older style pads won't fit (ie MY94-98).

That's true of the front brakes: UK-spec MY99 onwards are the STi 4-pots, while MY98 and previous were not. However, I think Simon is talking about the rear brakes, and the UK-spec cars certainly don't have the 2-pot rears seen on later STi's.

Simon, I don't recal anyone talking about the rear brakes on the UK cars changing so my guess would be that the pads would be OK, but this is just a guess. If no-one here can give you a definative answer, perhaps you could specify very clearly to Halfords (or whoever) that you are buying the pads for a MY99 Scoob and then if they don't fit you should be able to get a refund as they didn't sell you goods that were fit for the purpose you specified they were intended for.

Simo

The ferodo pads that halfords can supply are not DS2000's thats why they are so cheap.

From memory the part no for 94 on, rear DS2000's is FCP 790 and the ones Halfords supply are FDB 790.(CP stands for competition)

I thought that my99's have the later type two piston rear calipers along with vented rear discs but I'm probably wrong.

Got to go half time is nearly over!

Cool

Howdy,

Most places I know sell them..

Even my local brake and hose company who specialise in trucks and stuff can get them (they are ferrodo agents though)

I might have uprated rear pads... not ferrodo... but that would be telling..

andy

think that you are right. a phone call yesterday to halfords confirmed that they do not know what they are talking about!!!

seems that ripspeed (in certain halfords branchs) are advertising ds2000 pads, are you saying that these are still not correct.

re rear discs, you are correct about ventalated set up. I am going to try the 2 people you suggested

Hi

This is all very strange.I tried for over two weeks to get DS2000s from an alternative source with no luck.

places like Demon Tweeks and Halfords(with ripspeed section) had them in stock for other cars but not the scooby. When they phoned ferodo they were told the scooby DS2000s were sold under licence.

Ferodo's web site advertises the DS2000s and has a list of suppliers, one of which was ABP in Crewe so I gave them a call and after messing me about for over a week they came back with the same story as Demon Tweeks.

I gave up in the end as my brakes were down to the metal and eventually bought some EBC greenstuff. These are a bit better than the standard pads and take over three weeks to make as much dust as the standards did in one week!

Yo guys

just on my second set of Ferodos. They are exactely the same as used on the Nissan ZX 300 Turbo (it's written on the box). Maybe you should check out if get a decent quote for these.
No problems so far with them. Lesser brake dust than OEM items.
Be careful and bed them in properly. The discs and the pads will be very grateful (as well as your pocket)

See ya
