Question

Hi All

Can anyone advise (preferably from experience) what pressures I should be running on a Type R with the above tyres. The rubber is Pirelli P7000.

I always new I'd get stuck with a set of Pirelli's again one day.... lousy tyres best worn out quickly! In the mean time, 42 psi (as delivered) seems a bit hard! What should it really be?

Thanks
Russ

Russ,

Sorry no advice to offer, but would love to see a pic of your car if you've got one. I'm considering 18's also.

Heard that this size may affect handling etc? Hope not cos I think they'll look the biz. You going to Donnington?

Kevin

Hi Kevin

The Handling is certainly sharper than the UK cars on 16/17's i've driven but think the Type R has the hardest suspension of the lot. And with 40psi tyres, you feel it all! Not driven an STi on 17's tho. Time to experiment i guess with differnt pressures.

Sent you a pic of the car, the rims on mine are "Radius" ??? not a name i've come across before.

Just got the car, still loads to sort out, first thing will prob be a Leda kit.

Here's a pic of a Scoob running 18 inch Radius wheels, and very low suspension

Thumbs up

Russ,

Thanks for the pic, car looks ace! Your wheels are Radius R3. Thought about some of these when I bought mine, went for Khans in the end. I actually fancy the RUF wheels on the 911's in the August issue of true grip. Don't know if I can get any to fit. Guess I'll just have to ring RUF (when I've got the cash).

Have you tuned your stock suspension yet (apparently can work wonders at minimal cost). I wanted LEDA but was advised against it by Mike @ Scoobymania. Perhaps its worth getting some opinions 1st. I am soon to have (when my part arrives) MRT front and rear (adjustable) anti-roll bars with solid drop links. Also having an anti-lift kit fitted. Then I might try to get to Powerstation to get the car set up. Might be worth waiting to see how I get on. Powerstation come highly rated!

And Stef, presumably you are going to Donnington. Hope to see you there. Be nice to put a face to the legendary 1/4 miling, cossie humbling master of Scoobys!

John

Great pic! For one nasty moment i thought my car had a rather thrashed history but there's a few little differences so i guess not!

Mine's much taller, plans for a leda kit, but any other suggestions welcome!

Question

Are they really 18" wheels? It's just 215 tyres with a 45% profile seem far to high a tyre to run on 18". Was it a typo? maybe 16" or 17" wheels?

No they are 45's. I've since adjusted pressure down (they were 42psi cold) and now with them set to 35 cold, it's different car! Especially in the wet! Damn thing nearly threw me off the road at milkfloat speed the first time it rained. Thanks to &*^%&*^*( for delivering a car ready to kill me though. Still experimenting, but well happy now i've found a major improvement.
