Talking MINTEX 1155 Pads Vs OEM Pads with OEM discs

I’m going to need some new pads in the next month or so and are considering fitting a set of Mintex 1155.

Can anybody tell me if they can be fitted with the standard OEM disc and if so are they hard on the discs.

I’ve priced both sets of pads up and theres not alot of difference between the two. My local dealer quoted me £83.39 inc VAT for the OEM pads and demon tweaks quoted me £85.67 inc VAT for the Mintex.
How much have people paid for the Mintex on here. From the sites I’ve looked at I think its a good price.

One last thing my local dealer is willing to fit them for £30 inc VAT is this also a good deal in peoples experience.

Cheers

On my MY00 with standard discs, when I fitted Mintex 1155s the discs were warped within a few hundred miles. Standard discs are poor anyway.

1155s are good pads but create a lot of dust and don't tend to last that long. The prices you have been quoted sound cheap.

I am currently running with Ferodo DS2500 but they are £130+

£30 fitting is ok - they probably charging you for half an hour labour. Its a simple job though - my dealer charged me £10 to fit the pads I supplied.

Cheers,

Ian.

Thanks for replying Ian.

I may put standard pads on and up rate the discs and pad together next year. I would replace them all now but cant afford it.

Are the Ferodo or Pagid pads any better with the standard discs?

Ian

I have just changed standard pads to ds2500's with standard discs and goodridge hose kit. As far as i'm aware the discs should be ok unless your wanting to do some serious track time. So far i am very pleased and have been told to expect the pads to last considerably longer. I talked to Alyn at ASPerformance and found him extremely helpful( no. 01914103770).

Never used Mintex, but I thought the 1144 was the more popular choice for road use.

Pagid (RS4-2.1) or Ferrodo (DS2500) are much better performers than standard and are fine with the std disks. Major critisism of std set up is the lack of pedal feel - this is improved by fitting the braided hoses and decent fluid.

i took my mintex 1155's off last weekend, they were toooo noisy, always squeaking and grinding, changed them also for the ferodo DS2500,got them from hi-spec motorsports in dartford for £90...they're alot quieter and seem to be performing just as well.

Thanks for your relpys guy, helps me a lot.

I may go for the ferrodo they sound like a good bet. I’m not prepaired to pay £140+ for the Pagid pad on standard discs.

Once again thanks alot.
