Had new fronts fitted a few weeks ago and handling seems very light and not as sure as before. Checked the pressures in the tyres in the morning prior to driving and the electronic gauge read 30 with the backs at 24 (backs peviously 28). Is it fair to say that the pressure could rise by 4 psi and that the fronts were too high?.
Should I drop the pressure further in the cold?
Cheers for any info

24psi on the rears sounds too low to me, though I've never tried it. I run at least 33psi on the front and up to 32 on the rears. Did you replace the front tyres with the same as before or different tyres?

you should check your tyre pressure in the cold (as in before you drive) as it is recommended by the manufacturers ratings (dont know what it is for WRX).

If you are unsure, find a very flat road, such as a large carpark with very even floors. Draw a chalk line across your tyres, each one of them. When you drive, you want your chalk to wear fairly evenly.

If chalk wears on one side - your allignment or camber is out
If chalk wears in the middle - too much air
If chalk wears on the outsude - too little air

You should check your tyre pressure regularly as the weather changes eg winter - spring etc.

Correct pressure on a classic, is I think 33 front, 28 rear, unless under load, then I think the rears go up to 33 too

Question

I used to run 33 all round on my classic MY99 turbo and had 4 sets of Toyo's on it. When I got the very first set I called Toyos in the UK and the fellow I spoke with for advice ran a classic just like mine...and recommended 33 all round. Figured he would know and went with it. Worked fine for me. Anything less than 30 on the back and it lost the sharpness for me. Can't imagine what 24/26 psi woukld feel like for fast road use...apart from maybe scary!
