April 99 turbo with 4-pots
they are sh*t, more stopping power on a skateboard !!! is it the pads or discs, they are std pads so would changing them make a marked dirrerence ??

Putting something like Pagid discs & pads with braided lines would be a noticeable difference.
Although if you wanted outright braking performance you won't do better than a 6 pot kit.............

the std pads are not normally that bad (depends how you drive??)........what normally occurs is that people spend small amounts on replacement parts that don't perform as well as originals.......also don't forget to flush and bleed brake fluid every couple of years as this also has a marked effect on performance!!
any specific advice feel free to mail me.....

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Why is it that when people have standard brakes and they think they're crap, they immediately jump to the conclusion that they need Brembo's or AP racing and the like? Try changing the pads and fluid for decent stuff and also change the hoses to braided ones. Try them out, it might not be worth spending £1400 or whatever if you only occasionally push them to the limit.
If they are still crap, then go buy an expensive kit.
Rant over.....

I agree standard brakes on my '99 are useless. If you go the route of just upgrading the pads, make sure you get good advice on which ones to buy. I bought greenstuff pads and they are no better than standard - should have spent a few more quid!

I have a My99 and the standard brakes weren't very good. I've recently upgraded to Pagid disks and pads, and braided hoses and am very satisfied with the result. Definitely worth the money and I got them cheaper than standard parts.

Had standard pads and disks on for a while and they faded all the time and were generally not brilliant. Fitted braided hoses (£50 I think), uprated fluid and a set of Pagid RS15 pads (£160) and they were brilliant.
Took it on track and no fade at all but I did manage to put a massive crack in one of the discs towards the end of the day! Discs were replaced with groupN discs (£170) and the braking was even better!
