Goodyear GSD3's Handling
#1
Anyone else running 215x40x17's of these
Change of direction feels a bit weird and not as assuring as with Toyos.
Think its something to do with the sidewall flex in the F1's.
Flick the car one way, the car goes that way and then when you straighten up the car wobbles back the other way slightly as the tyres re-centralise themselves with the rims
Running 32psi all around.
Any ideas
Cheers

Hi MArk,
I've just gone from GSD2's to the 3's, not played much yet, but they are a little soft in the sidewall, so pressures will be critical, I just need the inclination to work out when they're right!!
Ron.

Hi Ron
Put the fronts up to 34 and that helped.
Played with the back between 31 and 34 and it still feels like I've got 2 blaumanges on the back.
Back for a geometry check i think.
Do you think the geometry should be different for 17's than 16's ?
They played with rear drivers side toe in when I had them fitted but thinking about it they bunged it straight on the machine without letting the suspension settle. As I said better take it back and get them to re-check.
Using Protyre who have always been good.
Cheers

Toe on the rear is ultra-important, makes all the difference!!!
Onl;y done about 50mls onmine, so they're still slippery!!
As far as I know, geometry should be the same as 16's!!
At least, I like mine that way!

I have to agree with this, they feel horrible compared to the bridgestone (not tried TOYOS). I initailly ran 32/31 and they felt awful. I am now running 34 up front and 36 at the rear, which has stiffened it up a bit, but they don't inspire confidence. Maybe (hopefully!) once i've got used to them i will prefer them, but at the moment i really wish i had gone for Bridegstones.
Just to add - Running 215/45/17 on MY02 with standard suspension
