AP keep a very close eye on their MRP, so you'll not get very big discounts from anyone.

Cheapest place I found was from Colin @ Motorsportworld

It's also worth looking at the Hi-Spec kits.

Tony,
I have e-mailed Ian Godney several times over the past 3 months & whilst my e-mails have been acknowledged he has not come up with anything, Its a shame as the brakes he did for me on the Scoob were very good. Does anyone have a phone number & I will try that approach, I know he is hard to contact on the phone but its probably worth a last try.

Hi Stuart,

APs for the Skoda, try Autocross in Bracknel. They do some very, very good prices.

Hi-Spec and Wilwood, try either Disco at Impreziv or Kevin at Sejoc (mention the Skoda board for 10% discount). I think the Hi-spec are 335mm and will fit under a 17" wheel.

Movit, well they never got back to me so thats a black mark to them

Brembo, might be worth talking to your local Seat dealer as they are fitted to the Cupra R. Failing that, Ring Racing in Nurburg are doing them with 4 pots for 1,100 Euros

Which wheels are you planning on fitting, as none of these will go under your 16s.

If you need numbers or other info, let me know. Can't remember if you need Golf or TT mounting kit

Tavia,
Will talk more when I "try yer springs" as they say, Suffice to say 17" wheels will be used + a few other drivetrain tweaks may be coming
Also trying to find a cupra type R in the scrappies but a bit too young, if you see any let me know. The Cupra kit is £1170 + fitting but AP 6,s are the dogs I'm told, Its just trying to justify the price !!!

Hi-Spec 6's are about the same as the Brembo 4s from the Cupra R then.

Stuart , What clearance do you have between your discs and inside of the spokes now ? I'm doing a good deal at the moment with Brembo calipers so if you have the room we should be able to make a kit for you , we have also had the new AP 4 pot calipers in , Let me know , cheers Ian 01656 660899

Ian, Stuart will be changing his wheels so should be able to clear most things. I on the other hand already have 2 sets of wheels so need callipers to fit under them. Standard Brembos (4 pot), Movit and AP 4 pots require me to run a 5mm spacer, which I won't do. What I'd need would be a custom bell to fulfill the same task (I think). Its slightly less of a problem with the AP 6 pots (they seem to be a slimmer design). Could you do a 335mm disk kit and how much are we looking at (my e-mail is in my profile). Bearing in mind that Stuart and I both drive Skodas I'm happy to lend you a wheel if you want to take measurements. Also what sort of timescales are we talking?

Thanks,

Jon

I got a demon deal on some AP's from BG Developments in Bromsgrove. They mainly do one off AP conversions for competition cars but they are an AP main dealer and did me a good deal on one of the Formula brake kits from AP for the Scoobie. Talk to them on 01527 873716.

I have made a kit over the last few days for a Golf Mk5 turbo , they are the 335mm discs with the red Brembo's we have , I will be fitting them on tomorrow , I have tried them in his BBS wheels and he has about 10mm clearance between the calipers and the inside of his spokes , I assume this will be the same kit to fit the Skoda..

Cheers Ian

I will post a pic tomorrow to wet your appetite

I rang http://www.optionmotorsport.com/ and asked them about what brake kits he had and prices for a classic WRX.

The Brembo kit for a classic WRX with 17+ wheels works out at 1700 fitted, disks callipers, brake lines etc. These disks and calipers are the same as used on the Ferrari 360 and the next one up which is a two piece disc is used on the F40 (about 100 quid more). The chap was saying that even though the Brembos are 4 pot and the APs are 6 pot, the brembos are a far superior brake, as the pistons in the Brembos have a much larger area.

1700 quid all in is a lot, but cheaper than many of the AP kits and you will have the best brakes available.

I am tempted... But its a lot of cash to spend on an early STI.

Hi Stuart,

Buy this months Redline magazine, blue Skyline on cover.

Page 109 CAS Motorsport are selling the Brembro GT brake kits including 4 pots etc for £750 as an intro offer, the Octavia is listed as 1 of the 8 kits on offer.

Before anyone gets excited the classic Scooby kit is £1595.95 and the newage is £2489.95

Cheers Colin.

Yes it's a good priced kit but you get 300mm one piece discs with the Skoda kit , not a disc and bell

And the standard RS discs are 312x25 anyway. Then you need to add in the cost of new wheels as they don't fit under the standard ones without a 5mm spacer. OK if you are using studs but a pain with the standard bolts.
