Sorry for posting in here but I posted i the tyres section and didn't get a response and i need an answer ASAP.

I'm being offered 4 Toyo Proxes 205/40/R17's at a stupid price.

Are there any problems running this size tyre on a RB5 ?

Cheers

Mike

Cool

I run Toyo Proxes T1-S 215/40/17 on my MY96 with no probs what so ever! and if you want grip, grip and more GRIIIIIIIIIIP go for em! they are great! and as for driving through puddles, you could shift an ocean with those tyres!

Before I had the toyo's i had Pirelli P-Zero's and they were good, but when hitting a puddle at speed you could feel the car starting to aquaplane a little, but with the toyo's I've gone throu large puddles about an inch or 2 deep at 50mph and hardly noticed the puddle was there! (apart from the noise!) And they are good priced as well, cost me £90 a corner inc fitting for all 4!

Just make sure they put the tyre on the right way round! but there are big **** off arrows so they have no excuse for getting it wrong!

As for the size, 205/40/17, the 205 is the width, 40 is the height from the rim, and 17 is the size of wheel that it fits!

Hope this helps!

Just out of interest how much per tyre were you offered? Scoobyworld do them for about £81 a tyre if I remember correctly!

I was running 205/45/17 P-Zeros on my RB5. I am now on 215/40/17 F1s, (following an emergency tyre change after a recent run-in with a kerb. Ahem! ).

I was told that for Toyos and F1s 215/40/17 is the best size available for my car.

(BTW, F1s are truely awesome... )

I would normally go for the 215/40/17 but I'm getting 4 brand new 205/40/17's for under £200

Mike - those Toyos - is this a 'one off' or would the 'offer' be open to others? I've just had a run-in with a breeze-block in the middle of the North Circular (great place to keep one) & have one of those nasty blistery things on one wheel, on a set of tyres than aren't produced any more so can't replace one And that price makes me feel a lot happier about replace the whole set

Tyres have turned up today

Unfortunatley it's a one off or until he gets some more in but they mat not be Toyo's

I've checked mytyres.net and they can get all 4 tyres for £268 so I saved about £70 not bad.
