I have just fitted 4 pot callipers and Disks from a P1 to my MY96WRX.No problem with that.Picked up some pads today and have just fitted them,I have two questions 1)should there be a shim of some kind that fits onto the new pad.2)Where the b****y hell do these wire type clips go.Any pictures anyone please.

There should be some shims that fits over the pads, so that the piston of the caliper is not directly pushing on the pads..!!

I think when you buy after market pads you use the old shims from your old pads, which you wont have as you didnt have them originally on your car... You will be able to get them from subaru...

I think you will need four... Because of the calipers being 4 pots... so one for each pad as far as i can remember..!!

I done exactly the same conversion on my 96 type RA
those wire springy things stick through the holes in the end of the Pad retaining pins, the small loop formed half way along the said spring thing fits in the hole in the middle of the caliper, these things basicly stop the pins from falling outwards and causing very nasty things to happen.

Cheers, its all making sense now.I thought i was going to have to get some split pins too.
How have you found the 4 pots compared to the standard 2 pots.
I have fitted Pagid blue pads, what pads etc are you using.
Thanks

Hi Mart
They dont fade out as quick as the smaller stuff, ive had them on for about a year and never had fade with them although ive got red dot grooved discs with them, supose that must help to, although if you stand on them from around a ton they sound like an underground train slowing down cause of the grooves although i dont mind it, its all part of the appeal! Im using ebc green stuff pads although i would think thats down to personal pref. I exspect theres pads about that would be better. I say ive never had fade but i dont realy drive it that hard that often, only short sharp blasts as it were!

Pagid pads are good gear from what ive heard, let me know what its like! one more thing, the big stainless bit which sits in the caliper goes with the loop bit uppermost,ie, nearest the top of the wheel arch. i found that if u fit it the other way, you get a click under light, low speed braking, this is just the pad moving slightly lenght ways in the caliper, this stainless bit stops them moving in the caliper in the direction of the disc rotation
Cheers
Gary.
