Cool

LOL

Now that the 'Slagging off Godspeed' thread has gone - to which more satisfied customers posted than not, I thought I'd start a similar one.

Travelled to Ian in Bridgend from Surrey, all the way down the M4 - yawn and £4.50 for the Severn Bridge WTF? Thats my first complaint. Secondly on arrival the sun may well have been out, but it was bloody freezing with the windchill - not impressed.

The reason why I went down was for Ian to check over the kit I fitted, the pads were overhanging the outer edge of the disk, also I had to use washers to get the correct spacing for the caliper / hub offset which I wanted checking. TBH I didn't NEED to go all the way to South Wales to get my brakes checked, but I was going to Cheshire anyway so a detour to Godspeed followed by a 170 mile A/B road blast to North Wales then across to Outlon Park to watch the last of the trackday action seemed a good idea. It was . Even my girlfriend didn't mind the explanation to why it took 6 hours and 360 miles to get to her parents.

Anyway I was at Godspeed for one and a half hours, Ian re fitted the calipers so that washers were no longer required and replaced the pads FOC with another set - fitted perfectly. There was nothing wrong with the old set, just some overhang so now I have a spare set!

Now that may be all well and good, but I only got 2 cups of tea - A bit slack I reckon . Also, when I noticed a bit of alien paint on my bumper (Sainsbury's carpark strikes again) Ian gave me a bit of T-cut and polish to remove it - but he didn't do it himself did he? oh no, left me to cope on my own, typical.

And taking the time to show me round his rally car is all well and good but Ian didn't offer to let me drive it - not fair even if there was a hole in the block the size of a fist, LOL.

So there you are, it was nice to meet Ian and his team, thorougly enjoyed myself - apart from that it was pretty crappy really. Except for the A4061 through Treorchy to Hirwaun, oh and the A483 from Builth Wells all the way to Oswestry

I wish!!

Paid to get in, didn't have to pay to go over the brigde to come out, IF that was the way I was going, which I wasn't !!

So I paid only to go over it once!! Rip off!!

Now if it was the other way round it would be fair IMO

Got to second this thread, From speaking to Ian on the phone through ordering, receiving and fitting them I have nothing but praise for the service from Godspeed. Fitting was straight forward and took four hours including fitting Goodridge hoses and bleeding.
Still bedding in but they seem to be an improvement over my two pots and they look bloody huge in my 17".

I myself always like to go to companies that have been recommended. So here's mine.

Only negative thought I can add is that they squeak like buggery and thats with copperslip and the rubber pads on the back of the Mintex pads. Any one got any ideas how to sort this??

Glad you asked Tizard 99. Thought my dump valve turned heads!!

Got a 325mm kit recently. Anything below 10-15 mph when your coming to stop gives off a right screech. Its becoming a bit embarrassing now. Took to slamming the brakes on at the last minute but thought better of it.

If you think it sounds bad in the car have you been outside? My girlfriend picked me up outside work the other day. My god!!!Ouch.

Any ideas anyone??

Alan B , You put something similar on another thread so I will repeat , I HAVE NOT HAD AN EMAIL FROM YOU , If you email me I will reply...

If you are having problems with the Mintex squeeling then they are glazing over , if you don't use them as they should be , after all they are a fast road pad that likes heat , then they can squeel , try giving them stick and see if it stops , if it does you need a softer pad , let me know how you get on.

Cheers Ian

Roll on my drive home from work. I think that could be the problem to be honest Ian.

I'm constantly in traffic on my way to work so rarely get out of third gear due to city congestion. Obviously barke continuously at low speeds. Do I assume that the screeching will be reduced the further you eat into the pad life anyway??

Well i personally dont find Godspeed very good.....

I find them AMAZING, my car is booked in on the 12th of April for yet more eye pleasing work. Rear dics/pads, strip and paint calipers front n back (gonna look mint and different from all the rest) might even put some holes for the discs to breathe eh Ian, lol

I think i might apply for a job there, and well you can put me on the books now Ian, make it official like innit lol!

It seems the 1144's will screech on Ian's rotors at low speeds, my second set do it as well. Problem is that even after a period of heavy use (no squeal) it only takes a few stop/starts in traffic to get the squeal back.

I wonder if there will be some other compounds available that create less attraction in traffic, but perform just as well?

Question

Ian,

Can you tell me how much the replacment 335mm discs and Mintex 1144 pads are for your kit?

What rear discs/pads do you have to compliment the large fronts. I've put off new disks/pads long enough

Mail me offline if you don't want to publish prices online.

Thanks,
Stefan
