Just had the garage ring me up and tell me that Yokohama A032R are
1. not road legal (personally I think this is bollox!)
2. not available to fit a classic (on 17" rim) (smallest being 225 which is a bit wide me thinks......)
So in a split decision I opted for the Yoko A539
£106 inc valve balance and fitting..
Have I dropped a bollock here!!!!!!
Anybody tried these on their car....
Cheers
Andy (not wishing to hear "suggestions" on what to get as I have already ordered the 539's...I thank you..)

cant comment on the A032s but used to run 539s on my previous Impreza and liked them a lot. Very soft so dont last that long but excellent grip in wet and dry and if they do let go it is very progressive.
My current RB5 came with a brand new set of PZeros (unfortunately) but as soon as I manage to wear them out I will go back to the Yokohamas.

1. Yes they are, though they only last about 1000 miles on the road before they're down to the wear indicators as they are very soft. I wouldn't recommend them for road use though, ran them on my Caterham and they are truely awful/dangerous in the wet
2. What size is it that you wanted ?

I have 205x40x17 on there at the mo.(p-zero)
Suppose I could go to 215 before rubbing becomes a problem.
they said smallest available was 225

Well they weren't lying about that.. the smallest size does appear to be 225 in 17"
Can you not resort back to the 16" rims, can get 205/50/16 for them no problem !!
Oh and btw they're not cheap !

I prefered the 520's 539's dont seem as grippy.. and they arent that soft - 1000miles..
The cut slicks are road legal.. andyf uses them.. and I will be putting some on my spare wheels..

Had 205/50x16 539s on my MY99 wagon. Only good thing about them were that they were quieter than the oem Bridgstones. Didn't grip well, didn't wear well. Used to be a Yokohama fan, A008s were brilliant.

You cannot even start to compare the AO32R with A539s. A 539s are road tyres, the AO32R are probably the best road legal tyre available (together with the likes of Bridgestone 540, PZero Corsa Dunlop DJo1 etc).
The smallest size in 17 is indeed 225 wide. Ideally, you'd get 8 inch wide rims to fit them. They are road legal in the UK and France and most European countries. If your car is registered in the UK, then you are allowed to drive with them.
How long they last depends on
- what compound you get
- how you drive
Available compounds are: soft, medium and hard (H). I have hard ones on my Evo and they last about 2500 miles before they are worn out.

Thanks for the very informative post Cladius.
I take it all back.
Ok, So if Andy F uses them on an Impreza is it a classic ??
and are they 17" 225's ??
and more importantly do they rub ?????????
Cheers
Andy
(although a bit late as the 539's will be here Wednesday)

Kumho V700 are another choice.
Essex Rally Spares do them, don't know about others. But you should be able to get them special order.
Available in 205/40 17
A032R are road legal, std fitment on a Lotus 340R.
