Question

Anyone know where I can source OEM pads and discs for a MY99?

Being faced with 4 new tyres, brakes all-round and insurance and extended warranty renewal my big brake upgrade is out the window.

Just for comparison:-

These are Dealer prices for OEM discs and pads to fit a UK MY99 with 4-pots. All prices are for a pair of discs/pads:-

Front Discs £264.52
Front Pads £115.61
Rear Discs £218.67
Rear Pads £71.44

That's supply only with fitting on top.

Midland Impreza are doing a special on Pagid discs/pads. In comparison to the above:-

Front Discs + Pads £305.50
Rear Discs + Pads £151.58

I make that a saving of £213.16

You must be mad to pay Dealer pricing for brakes.

Try TAS in Chorley. IIRC they sell front discs by Bremsport at £80 a pair, rears are slightly less. 01772 454547

Yep as above, try TAS http://www.tas.uk.com for discs. Bremsport Group N's for a MY00 cost me £107 a pair delivered including VAT Would definitely not buy OEM discs at those prices (or any price...)

Ian How dyu find the bremsports? And what pads have you got with them? Any improvement in initial bite or brake fade resistance?

Curry Monster,

I initially fitted Mintex 1155 pads with my original OEM discs. The discs warped within a few hundred miles - don't know if this was just coincidence? I then bought the BremSport Group N's and they've been fine ever since (a years use). Brakes are far better than standard - never had 'em fade under hard driving and initial bites fine as well. Only downside with the Mintex 1155 is they create a fair bit of dust. They are however substantially cheaper the Ferodo DS2500 / Pagid etc.

Cheers,

Ian.

I bought a set of OEM replacements from AS Performance for under 50 quid. They work and don't squeal, so I'm happy

Chiarks price above is pads only I think.

Forgot to mention the Mintex pads do squeal when in reverse!

I'm considering the as performance 'OE' pads for my MY01 - are you still as happy with them now they have bedded in?

Thanks for all the info lads.

Just had to buy a full set of tyres, so brakes will need to wait till pay-day at the end of the month.
