My tyre walls are looking well shabby, what can I use to clean them up and make them sparkle (well, at least look black again).

I used to use Back to Black tyre spray but it was crap and after a few applications over serveral months just ended up leaving sticky crap on the tyres which took for ever to clean off and ruined 2 sponges.

I've seen dealers use stuff that looks like water in a grimy old pot and they splash it on with a brush.

Any suggestions/recomendations.

Cheers

Chris

Tyre dressing's a bit of a thankless task in this weather but I use the AutoGlym tyre care stuff. You can either wipe it on - I use an old wash up sponge (or new one if the wife's not looking) or you can spray it on and let it dry (get a more shiny finish).

Regular application (when you wash the car) helps reduce the normal cracks you get in the tyre wall.

You could try spraying 'back to black' on your tyres, it's a silicone spray you can get from Halfords for about £5.

One that takes a bit of work first time you use it is Extreme tyre gel (lime green bottle). Make sure the tyres are clean before applying. Used most of the products and this gives the best results. Especially if you put it on and give it at least overnight to dry properly.

Thanks people,

Alas, where can I get the Extreme Gel, if its hard to get I'll probably stick to Autoglym so that I can nip down to Halfords at the weekend.

As mentioned above I've already tried back to black and it was crap.

Cheers

I bought some Extreme Gel at the weekend, is this made by Turtle Wax? Hope so, if not, I've bought the wrong stuff.

Not had time to try it out yet, will probably now have to wait until next weekend when no doubt it will **** down with rain

Cheers
