Question

Is anyone doing a grooved disk / Ally bell combo for the STi 7 yet?

Thumbs up

Not got them on an Impreza, but the DBA5000s have done well on my Legacy at many track days - and since mine are smaller diameter than the new STi, I should imagine they are fabulous with the Brembo callipers!

No, I havent warped them, but the standard disks weigh a tonne and no doubt contribute to pad knock off.

I am looking to upgrade to a grooved disk with alloy bell and performance pads.

Speak to Pete at Scoobysport and see what he says or you could speak to Mike at Scoobymania as he owns an STI7

James

I doubt that the weight of the disc would have any effect, other than quite some saving on unsprung weight.

What would have an effect is the reduced heat transfer into the hub, from using a two piece disc and bell set up. This would help with the pad knock off as the bearings would remain much cooler and therefore in better condition.

That said, the biggest problem is tha calliper design. There are no PKO features in this calliper.

Or you could do what i've done with my Prodrive/Alcon setup. I've bought some AP 330*28mm curved vein discs then i'm getting Hi-Spec engineering to make me some bells to suit

Grant... Also very interested mate, but not that keen on drilled (tend to crack).

Have you any grooved only ones?

I'll give you a bell later.

O.K just collected the discs.
They are NOT drilled or groved but have a very funky set of venting vanes.

Very well finished, but as James said they are a tad heavy, but I suppose at the price I can't moan.

Will be fitting mine tonight.

Grant,
HAve they an alloy bell? Could you give us an impression of the weight versus the std disc when you take them off, not suggesting you take them to the bathroom scales, just an estimation.

Andy,
It is the same as the original ie one solid unit.
Weight is the same as original.
