Well I spose that means that no-one has had to use the stuff, does that mean modern tyres dont puncture too often....mmmmm.

Thanks anyway.

I used it once.. but a friend in the tyre business looked at my tyre and said the mousse had rotted it .. It was in for about 3 Days.

Apparently its used on the MG range of vehicles to save costs. Can't be bad if a manufacturer offering a 3 year warranty uses it as OEM fitment.
How often do you get a puncture ? The last one I had was in 1990 and that was a 6" nail that some clown at work had dropped on the approach road to the car park

You have a point Yorkie, I think I need to investigate a bit before I make a choice of manufacturer though.

Cheers.

Thumbs up

I used Halfords own brand when I had a puncture when at Scoobysport. I couldn't get it repaired and no one had a tyre available to fit. The mousse got me home...and then to work...and then all about really Ran it like that for about a month - Only because I had new Toyos on order with Tyres Northampton and being fitted at a track day.
I checked tyre pressures regularly and lost about 1psi in 2 weeks. When the tyre was replaced I was expecting a nasty mess and TN to complain. Not a word. Could see the gunk but just wiped away. Cool. I too have been thinking about carrying a can instead of the spare

OEM on the Pug 206 CC too (I suppose they have to get the weight down somehow, and make the boot vaguely usable )

Correct me if I am wrong - but if you use the 'mousse' that tyre cannot then be repaired?

How's things going Andy?

Moose comes as standard with some Mercs too. I've also been told it's not good to leave it in the tyre.

In my experience it depends on where the hole is, I got a small cut in the sidewall, three cans later it still hadn't sealed. Chances are you're not going to get a flat anyway, take the chance and phone a friend if it doesn't work!

The moose you want is the stuff Michelin put in there rally tyres seems to do more than just get you home, shame it adds so much weight.

where can you get soem of the michelin rally stuff?

sounds good. I have a can of halfords stuff in the car at the moment, to save the missus changing a tyre if something goes wrong.

I've used this stuff before and it's fine provided you accept the couple of issues..

1. If the hole is a gash or in the side-wall you'll find it difficult to repair with this stuff
2. The tyre can't be repaired once you've filled it with cack.. So it can be expensive if you only had a repairable hole...

Use in conjunction with decent roadside assistance would be my advice!
