now that the suspension has been finalised thoughts turn to brakes.
I have 17" rims and do not want to change them so whats the biggest / best brakes to stick under there ?
Are six pots too excessive?, I plan to use it on the track a lot.
What would be the best mod for the rears assuming they are going to need modding?
I have thought about putting the standard 4 pots from the front, on the back, don't know if this has been done before or even if it's worth it.
Everything is still in the "think" stage as I have to let the wallet recover from last month first.

I'd plump for the six pots on the front, don't even think about putting the four pots on the rear, too much effort, for too much gain. Go for uprated pads on the rear, if you want something to maytch the fronts on looks, then Ian at Godspeed can do grovved and drilled, or just grooved, or just drilled, discs.

looks not important really,
just want even balance between front and rear.
I have images of it standing on it's nose if I just changed the front set up.
don't want it swapping ends either

If you intend to do track days and want to avoid upgrading later, easy . . . . AP Six pot's.

I cannot recall a single post ever moaning about AP's except the price !

If you are going to use the car on track a lot then it obviously makes sense to go for a big brake upgrade.

AP 4pots will be more than capable and you can get a good deal if you shop around. Try a car fitted with them before you buy, I'll be very surprised if you do not think they are enough.

I would only go for the 6 pots if I were running slicks and had suitable suspension.

Also consider pad prices. If you using it on track alot then you're going to be eating your pads. I'm not sure of 6pot prices but Ferodo DS2500 for my APs cost me a little over a ton.

mmm, slicks . . . . exactly the reason I went for the 6 pots in the end. I thought it made sense in the long run.

The Pagid pads in the old AP 6 pots were quite expensive. However the new kits (certainly mine) have the DS2500 which is a good £50 cheaper, cannot remember the price. Which should mean the kit is £50 cheaper as well, NOT !

Mo, probably a simply question but do the disc sizes differ between 4 and 6 pot kits ?

If you do go with the AP's or any disc for that matter make sure the hub face is really clean (you might know this already) or the discs can feel warped when braking. Another point worth mentioning - Make sure the calliper is shimmed out correctly or the pads will not fit between the pistons/disc easily.

AP pad changing is a piece of p155 as well two Allen bolts slide out the old in with the new, 15 minutes for both sides !

There was a Group-Buy a while back,

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=60926

maybe someone could ask AP to be nice to Scooby owners again.

Come on Marcus lets hear how the Movit's are doing . . .

Rich,

both 4 and 6-pot kits use a 330mm disc (or there abouts) you are limited by the size of the rim.

If you only run 16" rims you do have the option of a 305mm disc with the 4-pots which is what I have and is still fantastic.

Fuzz,

let me know how your suspension copes with the 6-pots and slicks when you've had a chance to test it on track.

Do you know what the springs are rated at?

Mo,
havn't got the faintest idea on spring rate.
Anybody else know what the spring rate is for the eibach's supplied with Bilstien dampers (the prodrive sports suspension).

Thumbs up

Fuzz.
I have the Hi Spec monster calipers fitted over 335mm disc's and very impressive they are to.
I have just completed two track days and apart from the dust that the mintex 1155's kick out they really are worth the money.
Give Geoff a call he is very helpful.
Cheers Paul.
