17" slicks are much rarer than 16's.

Hi Ian,

DTS ,

17" slicks are a nightmare to get hold of as virtually no one uses them in motorsport ( brand new ones are about £180 +vat each!!), partworns 16" easy, 18" ok. Won't be much difference in road holding/handling as any benefit in larger circumference tyre is probably offset by rise in unsprung weight.

If you're upgrading, go for 18's would be my view. (FB proud owner of 2 sets of 17" track wheels, with fairly shagged slicks and no real replacements on the horizon) Good job I've got 8 very scrubbed 17" P zeros in the cellar

PS Ian is it possible to get a power adapter to run the video camera from the cigarette lighter in car/ do you supply them? The video mount you supplied is superb, but the bloody batteries on the sony run out about every 5 seconds it seems.

PPS DTS, howdy, I've still got your mucky German video. Do you want to meet up at some point for me to hand it back? You know "Let's do lunch, get your people to talk to my people, yah? etc....". Alternatively, I'll be at Scoobysport, Saturday am.

Cheers all

John

Ian

It's a Sony DCR9E (improvising now because I haven't got it in front of me) but I think that's right. It's got the funny E shaped power jack. I'll check it tonight and edit the post if necessary.

Don't know if it's possible but it would be great if it could - would save me carrying / charging loads of the batteries .

DTS Good to see the moderators have finally let you back on here, and that your sparkling repartee hasn't deserted you ("Nobrot" )in the interim. I'll e-mail you off line about a nosebag. (Tosser )

Cheers

Hi Ian

It's a Sony DCR-PC9E PAL.

While we're at it, i saw some people on here talking about bullet cams /mikes ?? Are these things that you can plug in to something like this camera or is it too low tech a model? Quite fancy the idea of a bumpercam, or the proper sound of a decatted P1 being used as God intended!!!

BTW it doesn't seem so long ago that we were circulating Bedford on road tyres and you still weren't sure about going on track, I still have the video evidence. Funny how the disease catches you isn't it. "Slicks at Donno"?

Cheers

Hey John,

I had to do it, the voices in my head made me

And the fact I now have a full decat sys & just spent a fair bit of dosh on the suspension.

Any way, I have an AC-SQ950D twin batt charger that has a 12v cig lighter power in and should power your camera.

Mail me off line with your address and I'll send the unit out so you can have a look - its about £95.00 + the usual VAT.

You can use your camera as a recorder but I'm not sure how much the "domestic" small cameras are!
