Would someone please help, do you have to remove the caliper to change the front discs? it is on an Stiv6 with standard 4 pots.
Thanks Keith.

Yes you do, there are two 17mm bolts on the back of the caliper, take them off, and the caliper will come off, the discs should then fall off, refitting is the reverse of removal.
Simple.

The bolts can be a major pain in the *** to remove - depending on how long since the last disc change etc.. . and much easier if you have access to a hydraulic ramp.

Any sugestions as to the best way to remove the bolts?

Last difficult bolts I dealt with required a 7 foot scaffold pole!

are you meaning the whole of the caliper or just the outer half of the caliper.

when i first did this i **** myself when brake fluid started spouting everywhere. then realised it had to get to the outer part of the caliper to push the other two pots in. Doh!

You're not supposed to split the caliper, just take out the two BIG bolts around the back that hold the whole caliper onto the hub.
