I dont want to fit bridgestones again they tramline like crazy!
whats the best allround tyre for wet & dry conditions (and for wear) but this is not that important.

Last month's EVO mag has a 17 page tyre test which should help you out. Otherwise i would go for Toyo Proxes TS1 (cheaper) or Goodyear F1's (more expensive)...
Stay away from Bridgestone SO3's IMHO
Cheers

a reply at last
I am thinking about the goodyear f1 (new type)
only prob is that the rears have loads of tread left and the fronts need changing
question - is it advisable to have f1's on the front and wear down the b/stones or change all four corners at once?
ho hum the price of performance car ownership
all my other cars were non-performance so it did'nt rearly matter too much, except for the veccy sri (but after owning the scoob for a while i realise you cant rearly call the sri a performance car can you?)
ooops - flame suit on

Steve001,
Generally the advice is DON'T mix and match. I was in the same position with my front tyres being illegal and my rears being okay. I decided to splash out on a set of four new F1's. It's the best move I've ever made.
It cost me £104 per corner all in, but in my opinion that is better than wrapping myself around a lamppost. I was also advised to swap the tyres round at 8,000 miles so you get even wear (good for over 20k miles).
Hope this helps.

I just replaced 2 front Bridgey SO2 PPs cos one had a puncture with Toyo Proxes T1S, and after a couple of hundred miles to scrub em in the car is handling sweet again despite retaining the original SO2s at the rear. You dont have to replace all four in one hit.
There may be an argument for winding up the centre diff with tyres of different wear front to rear, but I havent had a problem thus far. I'm running the prodrive settings on standard 93 WRX suspension.
