Just taken my car to subaru dealers to have damage to my car repaired which was caused by my other half
the garage rang me and stated both of my front tyres are bald, and would cost £158 plus vat per tyre
i have done 12,000 miles on these,no track days and mostly normal driving..have i abused my tyres or is this the norm for tyre wear

Scooby Regular
Sounds great to me.... I got 6k on the last set of SO2'S with NO trackdays.....and believe me they were well below the legal limit!!
All depends on how you drive I suppose..

I get around 10000 miles from a set of SO2's. Just changed to Toyo T1-S this morning. £350 all in (16").
Be careful about just replacing the fronts. I would change all 4 tyres at once to reduce the chance of increased diff wear. Some people would disagree but is it worth the risk?

rich a,
The only advice I can give you is forget about the dealer and get a quote for four new Goodyear Eagle F1's.
I have an MY00 and I managed to get 17.5k miles out of the factory fit Bridgestone's before I needed to change them. The front two tyres were completely illegal and I almost killed myself going around a roundabout. The car was also understeering and tramlining quite badly.
I have now fitted Goodyear Eagle F1's and there is a massive improvement already and they haven't even been run in yet!
If you are in Berkshire, try Protyre Slough on 01753 571171 - they quoted me £104 per corner for Eagle F1's GSD-3. One of the cheapest prices considering it was including balancing, valves, fitting and VAT - also no frigging hassle buying from one place and fitting at another!
Remember to change all four tyres at once - it's better than wrapping yourself around a tree. Also, I was told to swap the tyres round at 8,000 miles so you get even wear (good for over 20k miles).
Hope this helps.

Try Micheldever tyres in Hampshire (quick blast down the M3 or A30 from Berkshire). Just under £350 for a set of 4 205/50R16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tyres, including fitting, balancing, valves and VAT.
Don't mix-and-match your tyres on the Scoob -- money is better spent on 4 new tyres than crash repairs. Rotate them front-to-rear regularly to even out the wear.
