PZeros vs Conti SportContacts
#1
Need to change tyres from old and worn P7000s. I don't do track-days but enjoy an enthusiastic drive as much as the next person
Experiences of either in the dry and the wet would be much appreciated along with how they compare to the F1s D2s and S02s of old.
Muchos gracias.

I've had P-Zero, Conti SportContact2, Eagle F1 and now P-Zero Nero. Not on a Scoob but I'd rate them as follows:
P-Zero, good in the dry. Grip well from the start. High treadwear. Reasonable grip in the wet, breakaway is fairly sudden.
Conti, not bad in the dry, tend to get a bit warm. Excellent wear rate. Seem to loose grip when down to 3mm tread depth. Awesome in the wet! Very high grip/traction levels in the wet. Controlled breakaway. Resist tramlining well.
F1, good in wet and dry. Not bad wear rate. Being directional I find that they tramline more than the others which are asymetric. Fairly controlled breakaway in the wet.
P Zero Nero, Lovely in the dry. Not bad in the wet but not as good as the Contis. Good wear rate, but a fairly noisy tyre due to the stiff sidewalls. Can be a bit darty. Very soft rubber that warms up quick. Nice breakaway in the wet.

I tried the Contis and would not ever have them on one of my cars again. Mediocre in the dry, terrifying in the wet compared to a Toyo or an SO3.

Ta for that OctaviaRS. Will probably try a set of the Contis although haven't really heard many Scooby people ranting and raving about them in comparison to the S02s and T1s.
If they are pants then I'll cry and never get another set , if they are any good then I'll be well-happy
Sal.

Sal, if you are going to get them, make sure they are sportcontact2. They are better than the normal SportContacts. As I said in my post mine is NOT a Scoob. Tyres behave differently on different cars. Let me know how you get on with them though.

Pete - but they gotta be better than the P7000s .... right ?
OctaviaRS - gathered from your uname that you don't drive a scoob ... will keep you posted about my experience though.
