Default K sport big brake kit help/advice

Hi guys

new to the forum but I’ve always had a look for info as it’s always been helpful

I'm having a with my 2007 Hawkeye wrx. Some stage in its life It’s had a k sport front and rear big brake kit fitted. That I’m itself is not an issue. Problem is the hand brake doesn’t work. When I took the discs off I found that the hand brake had been running on the aluminium inside bell of the k sport disc. This has worn out and now doesn’t engage. Speaking to k sport they don’t do replacement center bells or the metal hand brake drum which SHOULD have been in there.

issue is seems a shame to just not use the brakes for that reason as they work great. I don’t know if I can get total new discs to sort the issue from another company. K sport don’t seem very keen to help saying the calipers are an old design. Even though they still do a rear brake kit for my wrx.

just if anyone has had this issue or know of a fix for it. Like I say not my doing just trying to get it sorted

many thanks

Maybe reyland could help with bells or godspeed but i doubt.
Probably thats a reason why apracing makes kits with steel discs for a rear.

thing is it was supposed to have a steel drum but for whatever reason it’s been removed and now running on the aluminium bell. K sport sent me pics of what it should be. I would thing the newer style disc would work, but k sport just keep saying they don’t make parts for the calipers. But surely they still make discs? I just seem to come up against brick walls. So was wandering if anyone knows a way around it, new discs from another company maybe? Just seems silly to stop using them because k sport can’t help

Godspeed used to do a service where they woud attach a steel insert to the inside of the alloy bell, may be worth asking them. I ran these for while a number of years back and then I got a new set of bells machined. Alloy bells which will last as long as you dont go around practicing any Ken Block gymkhana handbrake turns

yep literally spoke to them yesterday, I don’t think they still do the insert but they can make me just the bells, which is better then k sport who don’t make them anymore. Thing is I don’t use the car much but it’s one of these annoying things that has been on my fix list for a while!
