MY98 Sport brake upgrade?
#1
I thought Scoobs did 80% of the braking using the fronts, which only leaves 20% for the rears. (I know, I'm sharp with the old maths this morning).
Maybe this is just Turbo Imprezas, but sounds like a lot of work to me. I've just been through this ordeal changing my 2-pot fronts on a MY98 to a 4-pot Godspeed kit.
You could try picking up some second hand 4-pots which seem to go for anything from £200 to £350. Godspeed kit or a Graham Goode kit withnew discs and pads will cost you closer to £600 by the time you've finished with brake fluid and hoses etc.
The only other point though is, braking needs to be balanced so there is no point in having **** hot front brakes and poor rears. I'm sure the brake experts will correct me on this but its worth talking to Ian Godney at Godspeed.

My 'other half's' MY98 2.0 Sport is great fun to drive, not mega fast but good fun all the same. Problem is that compared with my MY02 WRX its brakes are useless and I am thinking about getting them upgraded.
The rear's are drums and being practically useless I haven't a clue if it's possible to put discs all round? I don't want to spend too much as the car has 100k miles on it but I'm trying to keep my WRX miles down so want to get the Sport up to scratch.
Any ideas about where to go and what to do?
Cheers!

It's a major job to do anything at all to the rears. I'm reliably informed it's a new axle job. The fronts on my car (MY97 Sport) have been uprated to two pots with pagid pads. All in all I reckon it cost me about £150 to do the upgrade and the braking shows a marked impovement IMHO. Also, you should have a look at the Yahoo Group for Sports for more info.

Oh and paint the calipers red, takes about 5 feet of the stopping distance.

within reason, you should have no problems with upgrading fronts with std drums (nearly all production cars do somewhere in the region of 70% front braking)
Ferodo do ds2500 for this model so you could just go for this option or fit 4pots as above
