Default Handbrake problems

V2 classic saloon

I cannot get my handbrake setup correctly

I've fitted new rear shoes, discs and pads and a left handbrake cable (blueprint)

I've completely slackened off the lever end and tightened the shoes and backed off a couple clicks

I can get the right wheel to lock but not the left and when I look from the lever end it's not pulling both cables square as if the new cable is longer

Could it be the new cable ?. 99% sure its the correct one and it's blueprint but it is aftermarket..

Please help I'm pulling my hair out and I don't have much left

might be worth replacing the other side to match so as to even out any stretching of the older one, why did you have to replace one side ?

Project car I'm doing. The complete left rear hub was missing and cable had been cut.
you would think an older one would already be one the stretched side though

Hoping it hasn't been bagged wrong as there seems to be 2 different sizes quite similar and I've been sold the longer one

Yep 26051 fa030 which crosses to ADL 74626
On first line site this is the shorter cable which would make sense
Only way is to take it off and measure.

Removed the cable and measures fine

When I rebuild it and pull the handbrake arm on it pulls so far it hits the wheel hub before it even moves the shoes, also the fork shaped Lever seems a loose fit

Am I being really thick here or do I have the wrong shoes ? . Pic1 is handbrake off and 2 handbrake on

Thanks for any pointers

Don't hold me to this cause pics aren't great but it looks to me like you've the fork in wrong you need too rotate it.

Finally got to the bottom of this after hours of messing about.
Found some old shoes in the boot and fitted them works perfect.
Culprit, brand new Mintex shoes !
Not the first time I've had an issue with mintex shoes !!
Will pick up a different brand tomorrow
Thanks
