Hi,
I've got the original wheels from my car with worn (2mm tread) tyres on them. Will they last me an afternoon of fun on the track?
I'm not a looney and have got standard(ish) brakes.

Thanks

Richard

I have destroyed a new set of S02s (on the front) in 10mins at Trax2000.

I have also driven 20 miles at Donnington with very little damage at all.

It really does depend on how smooth you're driving.

They will wear better if you increase the tyre pressures, some folk recommend +10% but I remember a thread where Mike wood recommended 40 psi, this is what I use when on track(when hot).

In a word, yes (probably ). As the tread is at an almost perfect depth for a *dry* track day the tread blocks will not squirm and overheat (so much) like new ones will. You will probably be driving round the standard brakes anyway.

If it's wet, however, you may as well have slicks on

yup should be fine, less tread = less heat build up.
