Question

Hi All
Car is STiV running 16's at the moment.

If I change the wheels to 17's & use 215/40/17 tyres will the speedo reading be correct ?

Please correct me if I have the tyre size wrong.

Thanks.
Andy.

I'm guessing that you are running on 205x50x16 now, changing to 215x40x17 it will result in a 1.2% decrease in overall circumference, so it won't make an appreciable difference to the speedo reading.

Yes 215x40x17 is the correct tyre size, or you could go for 205x45x17

Stuart

Thumbs up

Thanks for the reply

Would you know the difference in using 205/405/17 opposed to the 215/40/17 ?

Thanks.
Andy.

The difference is in price and tyre availability. For instance you cannot get Toyo's in 205/45/17. As for the price you can expect to pay up to £20 a corner more for them. Get 215/40's.
