Default 2002 WRX, Wider wheels and lowering...

I have a 2002 WRX Wagon with some AP 4-pots to fit. The standard WRX wheels won't clear them, so I'll need 7/10mm spacers or a set of STi wheels. I also need an imminent suspension refresh.

How far can I drop the WRX on STi wheels before the arches become an issue? The STi has flared arches and the WRX looks pretty close just on the standard wheels. I'm only thinking of a 20mm drop. Will it be fine or will I run into issues?

Which AP's are they? Generally the AP Subaru kits were designed to fit under OEM WRX wheels without the need for spacers, it's the Brembo's that need spacers. The clearance between calipers and rims is standard on both saloons and wagons so I'd say you should be fine as you are, unless of course you just want to get some bigger wheels!

As for drop I can't tell you how much you can lower by as a maximum but you'll be safe on 20mm for sure.

CP5200s I believe. I haven't test fitted them yet but I presuming that the wheel offset will be an issue on the standard 7" wheels.

I think pretty much every CP5200 kit will fit the stock 7" WRX wheels with 330mm rotors. It's close, like less than 5mm all round, but they do fit fine. Some of the 6 pot kits fit fine too.

https://www.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyr...ternative.html

That's a link which has a pic of the 6600 calipers behind the stock rims...it's a different, more road biased caliper, but same clearance.

Thanks for that. I'll try and get some confirmation from Ian when I send them for a refurb.

Is that due to a physically bigger caliper or the offset of the mounting/disc?

the caliper is oversized hence the clearance issues.........
