Default 2005 wrx wagon wheel help

Im picking up a 2005 wrx wagon tomorrow. Its got to stay family friendly, ie standard suspension, but i cant roll on the standard wheels for long.

I plan to get some 18s asap, but im not sure about fitment.

I think im correct in saying that the pcd is 100, and the standard offset is +55. Can someone confirm this is correct for the wagon?

Now what i cant find is a definitive answer as to what the lowest offset is achievable on a wagon with 18s, and how wide i can go without having to undergo any arch modification. I went through all that with my 200sx, and im not looking to get involved in all that this time.

Ive looked at some offset calculators, but they dont really help with the specifics.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised no one has responded so I'll give it a go.

I have a 2005 WRX wagon. If I was shopping for 18in I would go for a max of 18in 7.5 ET48. If you stick with 215 tyres I can't see a problem. Any wider and you could foul the arches.

Nice one Reef, thanks for that!

Didnt realise the standard tyre size was so narrow until i got the car. But then i was used to the wideness of my SX wheels i guess. This is a totally different ball game.

I run prodrive GT1 alloy on a WRX wagon. I believe it's 18x7.5 ET53.

The recommended tyre for this is 225 45 18

If it helps, I think this is the same wheel/tyre fitted to the GB270 wagon, and I believe that was lowered as standard.

I often have to drive on some rather undulating roads, so although standard, I'm confident the car gets a good amount of suspension articulation.

I do like those wheels....

I bought a set of wheels which were ET48 17x8 fitted with 225 45.
They just clipped the rear arches when hitting bumps at speed. I have prodrive lowering springs.
I sold them to a guy who had stock suspension on his wagon and he had no issues what so ever.

I have gone back to 17's on my Blob Wagon but from an STI as 18's kept getting chipped and don't like pot holes or curbs, much more daily drive friendly.

Just fitted PCA Dynamics springs from the group buy on here, nicely lowered so arches are filled, ride is a little firmer but the handling is vastly improved and that's with winter tyres, can't wait till I fit a set of Nankangs, you just need to make sure your tyres have a stiff sidewall when running 17's.

Ditchmyster - which 17s did you go for and what's the size of the wheels and tyres?

Just standard gold 10 spokes that are on 2003 cars, 225/45/17, got them off Cuprajake on here for £300 with brand new Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres,(only price I can find for the tyres on line is £217 a corner) look sweet against the Black of my wagon, clear my 4 pot AP's and no rubbing on the arches either, works for me.

I have 18x7.5 ET48 wheels on my blob wagon with the correct 225/40 (not 45) tyres with PCA Dynamics lowering springs and have no problems with tyres fowling the arches, this is in fact the exact same factory wheel/tyre/spring combo as on the GB270, bar the ET which is 53. Stick to these and you'll be fine.

The correct tyres are indeed 40 profile (which is what I run).

Apologies to anyone that I've misled by incorrectly stating 45!

I'll go sit in the corner and think about what I've done.
