Default performance friction v brembo pads

Hi guys,

Any opinions on which is better? Brembo hp2000 or Performance Friction .11z pads, will be used mainly for everyday driving and the odd spirited drive, so looking for good initial bite. They will be used with standard plain brembo discs.

Cheers in advance.

They are both good pads, but i would definitely lean more on the side of the Performance Friction pads, tried and tested they are quality.SJ.

Ah stonejedi you seem to get everywhere! I was asking about pf 2 piece discs before and your input was appreciated.... unfortunately insurance company isn't playing can't even have them as a declared modification so have to go standard until renewal time, need to find a more compliant insurer!

Do the brembo create a lot of dust? They seem to be soft from the reviews so would imagine they do? I had ferrodo ds2500 on my old p1, they were great but did dust a lot! Was also wondering if the pfs ate discs as they seem to be hard?

All of my conclusions are based on other people's reviews...

Sorry forgot to say they've got to be r90 (or whatever it is) compliant so they're classed as like for like (oem +/- 20%) .... insurance again..... heard xp8 are great but not a road pad as far as I know?
Thanks anyway!

Hi Chris,The Z rated compound compared with the brembo pad dust wise is night and day the PF pads don't really dust and if there is some its minimal, any uprated pads will be harder on disc i'm afraid that is the trade off, based on the compounds that are used in there make up of a race/fast road pad,a standard pad is designed to work straight away with as little heat in them to be effective at moderate speeds, but that is the rub right there, that when they take some proper heat they are outside their parameters and fade creeps in pretty fast and they are less efficient, always buy a pad based on use of your car driving style etc...for me uprated pads all the way.SJ.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll probably go for the pfs as I hate cleaning wheels! I wouldn't say I'm heavy on the brakes as a rule of thumb, but did warp a fair few discs on my p1 before I got the Alcon upgrade with 2 piece discs, after that no problems! Waiting until insurance renewal time then it'll be 2 piece pf discs as well....

I have to say its nice to see people modifying a car properly and within the law.

Its a tough one as why should you get stung for putting better pads in on your insurance?!?!

But it sounds like you are going about this all the right way and it is a refreshing attitude.

I would also advise ringing the likes of godspeed and ASPerformance and asking their opinions, as most peoples experiences are purely subjective and you might get them and they not suit your driving etc at all.

Alyn@AS recommended the z rated pads for me and at £200 for a full set of fronts and rears they are hard to beat IMO

you will have paid <£200............

we are major distributors of both Brembo & PFC (one of a very small minority of official Factory agents)

generally speaking the Brembo Sport is a very refined fast road/mild track pad (similiar friction wise to the likes of ds2500) whilst the PFC Z-rated is slightly less refined but with a far more effective track type temp ability exceeding pretty much everything else fast road wise

Richie001 you must have led a sheltered life as the PFC 08 is a far better all round v.fast road/track pad (although the 07/11/13 track pads will outperform it ultimately) and the new Pagid RST3's are phenomenal and all far more refined than C/tech IMO...........
