235 for what you get back is a quality price.
You do braided lines?
If I'm going to replace the calipers mite as well change the brake lines at the same time.

Ok I had a bright idea of buying a set of callipers checking them over and then swapping them with mine, at least this way it gave me time to check them over before taking anything off the car............but as ever things just aren't that simple.
They were jammed solid when I got them, move managed to get the Pistons moving but I think they need rebuilding before going on the car. Which is fine and I think I could do.
My big issue is they are red....ish..... They looked better in the pics. I'm not fussed about them being red but they really could do with cleaning up and repainting. Is this one of those jobs I'm going to wish I had never started/results r s@@t and il just wish I had got them done properly? I also have an 11 day old daughter so time and money are a little short
Ian, if I ship the callipers to you, how much would it cost and how long would it take to get them back?

Yes they work the same as original Subaru calipers , they just don't have the wording on the outer face.
We can supply you reconditioned calipers on an exchange basis , our grooved discs and kevlar pads for £325 plus £15 P&P , we could offer better performing pads if needed depending on use

The wrx/subaru four pots are the same as Nissan 300zx/fairlady and skyline four pots.
From my experience it's the caliper that corrodes and causes sticky pistons, so SS pistons aren't always the solution.
To the op:
The cheapest option is to buy a seal kit and some emery and do your calipers on the car.
The first major rule here is make sure you can get the bleed nipple undone first, before doing anything....
Simply remove the pads and pump the brake till the pistons pop out. Obviously you need a brain and common sense and some good mechanical skills to make sure all the pistons are just about ready to pop out before pulling them the last wee bit.
Remove the seals and dust covers, scrape and clean the seal grooves, emery the bores, emery the pistons.
Clean it all with brake cleaner, use rubberlube and re assemble.
Budget several hours to do all this.
If it's not for you then you need to buy calipers, if you can't afford calipers then park the car up! Do not drive about with a newborn and siezed brakes lol.

Another way to do it just now while you save is pump the pistons as far out as you dare, wrap the emery round and give them a good rub. Clean and rubberlube, push them back in.
That will free them up enough most of the time.

The Subaru calipers are NOT the same as the Nissan calipers , they are similar and use the same pistons and seals , similar to EVO and STi Brembo calipers using the same pistons and seals, but the calipers are indeed different.
The pistons do rust , as the chrome comes off , For some reason the first one to go is usually the inside bottom one , then the rest are not far behind.
If the pistons are rusty and pitted you CANNOT just clean them up with emery cloth to get the rust off and expect them to seal when you refit them , if you push the pistons in to fit new pads , the seal will be trying to seal on the area with pitting , and will not seal properly causing the fluid and pressure to be lost , the brakes will fail.
The top lip of the bore is usually rusty , and will need cleaning before rebuilding with new pistons , not cleaning this lip properly can see the calipers sticking even with stainless steel pistons.
In our experience , and its fair to say i've done a few Subaru 4 pots ! the biggest issue with these calipers is rusty pistons
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Excellent when someone reads what you have written and spins their own interpretation on it.
I don't have the time to reply properly to this thread due to having family commitments.
I hope the op finds a cost effective and safe repair

I've got a spare set i'm going to strip down, sand down, repaint, new seals throughout and take my time. If i'm not 100% happy they wont be going on the car.
If the current pistons look ok they will go back in, if not, its 80quid and I will replace them with stainless.
What size spanner is needed for the bleed nipple? i don't have one that small.

I got a set of Godspeed WRX PRO calipers discs and pads on mine, really pleased with them.
TBH its not worth mucking about with the old rusty calipers for cost of the Godspeed kit.
I even managed to flog my old discs and calipers on ebay for £80, so just over £200 for new brakes. Bargain.
edit; it now really stops well.
