November Meet on the 30th - Change of Venue!!!!!!!!!!!! Details Inside...
OK. As most of you know, we’ve had many discussions about the way forward for the club and it’s been agreed by those attending the past few meets & events and in calls & chats, that a change is needed to keep us both fresh and progressive. More importantly, the club continues to grow & develop, and we’ve simply reached a new chapter in our development. We’ve outgrown the current setup, and it’s become plainly obvious that we need to step up our own commitment and involvement to move the club on to bigger and better things.
To some long standing members, the change has been coming for some time and may be a bit of a shock, especially as to how big and popular we’ve become. The carefree and spontaneous attitude & organisation of events is still there, but we have a larger mass of people with their own ideas and creativity to consider now. Other clubs would have gone through this and I’m sure the ESC & LADS (to name but two) have had to make decisions for the good of the club. The slight difference here is that we call SNET our internet home as we have no dedicated web presence and therefore all the discussion and ideas are in the open. IMO, this is a good thing, as prospective members can see the type of people we are and clearly see how the club works.
Rest assured, we’ve not gone and bought a clipboard as we feel this still isn’t us; But what we have done is moved Home. From this month, we will now meet at the Squires Café in Sherburn. The date and time remains the same, but the Events sticky thread will now have details of the new WYIOC meeting place. For those who don’t know it, Squires is a long standing Biker café that’s had an increasing Jap car presence for some time. It’s a café dedicated to petrol heads and they have kindly offered the top car park as a dedicated WYIOC parking place that can be coned off for our exclusive use on the last Thursday meet. More details are on the Sticky.
Secondly, we are also looking to raise the subs and take payment in two 6 month windows. Firstly, the Annual £20 subs will be payable from the January meet and will be for 12 months. This price remains fixed until June when from July, the price will be equal to £3 pm for the remaining 6 months. If you do not pay within these two windows then all member privileges will have to be paid on an ad-hoc basis. This could work out more expensive in the long run. Why’s that and what are these privileges? I hear you ask…
Well, many are smaller deals that allow various discounts at retailers & local Subaru dealers. Up to 15% in some cases; These details will be published next year.. The main privilege is with the top 5 shows we do each year (NBO, Thoresby, Nostell, TOTB & the Scooby Shootout). Membership will guarantee you a safe place to park on the club stand (there have been thefts of and from vehicles at these shows). Once parked up safely you will be able to use all the club facilities in place. Mainly, the free BBQ & drinks on offer. This alone could save £’s on the catering prices that are usually there… plus, you can guarantee it’ll be better and more plentiful. The Markee will have tables, chairs & a heater for those cold wet days (Scooby Shootout anyone!). Ideas along a PS2 and a TV being available are being discussed for those bored or maybe missing a Footie / Rugby match that day? These items will guarantee you stay warm, dry & fed regardless of how the weather is…
Finally, as paid up members, you will have first refusal of and attendance at events that are limited beyond our control. These could be specialised trips (Prodrive) or stand places that cannot take us all.
Apart from the privileges above, we simply have to maintain upkeep of them and the other stand kit. And having decent funds available will make special events such as Xmas, member illness, marriage etc easier to deal with.
Just a few changes for you to digest now… but more are planned as we ramp up the clubs presence.
Make sure you’re a part of it….

I do prefer this location, the faciltities for both in and outdoor chatting are far better.
the discussion had with the landlord/owner from our wreckie and the fact they will cone a desiginated portion of car park area for WYIOCers only is a great gesture..
can't wait
