Lightbulb Fun idea for Blyton ???

Would somebody be prepared to put a little effort in and acquire shed ? I'm talking about a dodgy old motor which is only just legal enough to make it there on the day and back to the scrappers the next, to be used by everyone in a Top Gear style lap challenge. Under £50 with the cost added to the shared costs for the day should be more than adequate. We have a stopwatch and a track, helmets and enough idiots to make it a decent laugh

So, who fancies it. The "WYIOC-er in a worthless shed" lap-board

Ha ha ha - I'd definetly have a go, don't mind trashing a car on the track if it's not mine!

The only thing I'd say (putting sensible hat on for a moment) is remember the Clio , I'd say if you're getting a shed make sure it can handle - you could always put your AST's on for the day

shame this didnt come up a day or two ago ,,as my mate has just scraped his audi 80,,it would of lasted the day (i think)

i think your best getting a list of people who are intrested and spliting the cost between them,,,as some people might not want to chip in a bit more cash (just a thought),,,,,,

My local trackday club did one of those "farm field football challenge" type things a year or so back and they bought all their cars from Ebay.

Most have limited tax and mot, enough to collect it and get it to the track, otherwise it is trailer time.

Oh, and knowing how you lot drive - my advice would be to get a lap in the car as early as possible

Dai, Dunno what you're talking about. How dare you criticise the WYIOC driving, we are a bunch of enthusiasts with keenly honed skills...

I'm not convincing anyone, am i?

Okay, one word...

sounds like a good, sorry, GREAT idea!

il be coming again this time + i only live about 10miles from blyton. My neighbour has an old 3 series bmw that he is on about scrapping as it needs lots of welding doing. il have a word with him + see what he wants for it? he also has a car trailer so i would think if we covered his fuel then he could possibly drop it off there?

obviously i can't say anything for definate before i speak to him but what do you think?

excelent idea we did this at Curbourogh a few years ago in an MG maestro got us £45!! what a laugh, we even got it on 2 wheels Russ Swift style!! only problem was you could not go that far as it need a locked diff. Everyone just went out and ragged it, then we dropped ith off at the local scrapyard when the day finished!

The only reason it ran out into the road was the fact that your driving was so bad!!!!!!!!!!

(That's my excuse anyway)

How does this sound for a format (Hypothetically, of course...)

Car cost £100
Number of interested drivers 10
Each driver pays £10 into th 'pot' to buy the car.

A format is decided for the day, say 2 practice / warm up laps followed by two timed laps, your time for the day being an AVERAGE of the two timed laps, this is then put onto the leader board.

However, I doubt a £100 car would survive the day, so here's the deal...

Whoever bins it or kills it pays out to the remaining folk. So, let's say driver number 6 kills the thing off, he's gotta cough up £10 to each of the 4 drivers that haven't had a play.

If the car does survive then all well and good (and onto the dirt track :dorty

Just a thought as to how we could make it all fair and above board.

BTW, there's an Astra Merit 1.2 on fleaBay for £19

Leave the leaderboard to me, I'm gonna knock up a perfect TopGear replica

Remember when TG had to buy cars one time and JC got his for £1. Must be do-able. Dealers often get trade-ins that are good for nothing else but scrap, and that costs, so it's better to let it go for a £1 profit than a £50 loss. Just need to do the leg-work. I can't dedicate much time to this as I am now booking clients for the driving as well as a 2 week holiday looming. I was more hoping for a £50 maximum on the car spend though, but do what you guys see fit.

Question

Well I for one have not (yet) found owt which fits t'bill.
Everything on fleabay goes for silly money or has a ridiculous reserve. Trader starts at £100 for spares or repairs stuff. Tried & failed to get a trailer sorted with a view to considering at all those non mot/tax heaps. Might go down to Bradford Auctions on Sunday though, should be a giggle
Any other sources of motors??
Got to be a 2.8 Sierra with 2 weeks t&t somewhere !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have another trailer if you get a small car! It's 10ft long x 5ft5ins wide you would need a pin type tow bar to tow it though, Total hire price would be £0.00 to this club only!!

How about a nice shiny peugeot 309 GTI I know about? Due to be at the track already and hard to kill (I have tried).

Worth more than £100 however

Probably calling at a couple of scrappers on monday. Will see what I can find, the trailer would be ideal Steve but I don't know who'd have a pin tow thingy
