Maybe someone could clear it up if you actually need one Andy. ??

Are you not trying to get hold of a new or at least skimmed flywheel to fit when you fit your new Pink box exeddy clutch?

Some guys on BABS (Beds & Bucks Subarus) have mentioned there is no point fitting a new clutch if you do not fit a new flywheel or get your old flywheel skimmed instead. Could seriously shorten the life of the new clutch fitted.

I have never had to change a flywheel when I change a clutch plate, pressure plate & release bearing clutch kit. Does this sound right???

Can anyone confirm/deny if this is definitely required???

Ta Andy

ITS A NIGHTMARE MATE!!! i am putting a new exidy pink box on next friday. and as i have always been told may aswell do the fly while you have the box out. however at the moment the only place i can find any form of flywheel is grade a subaru and that is a standard fly second hand £80 and like i said on BABS i then have the problem of getting it skimmed/grinded.
i think the problem is until the flywheel is off no one can give a true answer to the question is it definitly required.

and in the case of the 06-07wrx it appears you may have to make do with what you have..

That's crazy though. Don't really wanna spend all that money on a second hand flywheel that may be worse than yours!

Besides yours has only done 13k miles hasn't it? Would hope it was still in great condition.

I would bet that 95% or people changing the clutch don't fit a new flywheel or get theirs skimmed.

yeah my car has now done 14k . the problem is everybody you talk to and myself included would recomend changing the flywheel when doing the clutch. but like you say how many when in that position do. and i bet even less with a 06-07 wrx will. ... mind u at the min the flywheel is the least of my problems lol as everyone seems to be waiting for exedy to send them the pink box kit for 06-07 wrx..

When I was looking some time ago there were no stocks in the UK. Seems difficult to get the 5 speed Exeddy pink box kits.

I'd ask a few professionals what their opinion is on not changing the flywheel.

Andy.

Have you spoken to harvey? He can supply the Exedy pink box kits and has lightweight flywheels in stock for 5 speed I think.

https://www.scoobynet.com/trader-ann...els-235-a.html

He offered to fit a 5speed to mine for £155 if I remember right.

Worth a contact.

Andy
