front end needed for my banana...
not going to go into too many details here but my car has been written off (by a third party)
basically the parts cost more than they have offered me
and i am considering keeping her on the road and am now looking for front L/H parts. i am still undecided at this point weather i will buy the car back or make a deal with them to go for some used or cheaper parts long shot i know
here is the damage caused by a Jeep Cherokee at 5 miles an hour in reverse
the jeep went over the top of my bumper, it looks ok in the pic but its not. the damage parts will cost £3000 according to the insurance
any suggestions please?

black crystal headlights are cheap enough, cant see the bumper damage, but you fixed it last time, can you not sort the bumper again?
obviously the wing and bonnet need changed.
the rest will probably straighten out fine just by getting the damaged bits off and hitting the panels back into shape to be honest, assume the tracking is still ok?
i few months ago i threw my old L/H wing out into the skip at work as i could not sell it

i don't know what is wrong with the bumper, i know one of the holes for attaching it was broken
they have sent me a price list, here are a few examples
bonnet £349
bonnet turbo vent £280
bonnet venting kit £100
bonnet lock panel £61
bonnet lock £33
lamp spot/fog £216
as you know i own a sport and had a fiber glasss bonnet with a molded scoop. this is mostly why they are writing it off as the parts are too expensive and i dont even need all the bonnet parts they have quoted.
they have also priced up spotlights, which i didnt have and could have allowed for light covers, the whole thing is a nightmare

i darent go for fiberglass again
i am waiting for the engineer to call me so i an offer some suggestions. i have been given till friday to decide what i want to do. if i buy it back it will cost me £900 but i will only get just over £2000 in cash. i want them to agree to put the car on the road using different parts.
i have also been told that if i dont keep the car i cannot remove my sterio, speakers, 2 amps and a sub and if i do i will owe the salvage money back!!
i have managed to find a site where i can get most of the parts i want but i dont know what the insurance will allow yet

the car is a Special edition 2001 impreza sport 2.0
the car is in the garage that was going to be doing the repairs. i told the ins. that they couldnt stop me taking my personal possessions out of the car. they said the the car was valued as it is and if i take anything out i will be charged. i tried to explain that the car did not come with 2 amps a sub and a very decent sterio, just a standard one, they wont have it
i know i can get the car repaired for a fraction of the cost they have quoted, but i dont know what to do for the best now

thanks for the offers so far
i am still waiting to hear from the engineer. i want to know if they will let me repair my car with sourced parts, not main dealer parts.
i think i will wait for a decision before i make contact with any of you. i have cleared my pm box if anyone has anything to offer (careful)
fingers crossed

the insurers are telling me that their garages are not trained in using fiberglass and that is why my parts are so expensive
i am having to write in and make a complaint
ive been in tears today trying to sort this out. the frustration factor has done my head in, i feel empty now

i have just got off the phone from the garage my car is in. they have told me that most of the car is repairable and that they are willing to take it on
not sure about the bonnet though, i think it can be strengthened as it only bent across the middle, it cracked the paint.
they have tried using the excuse that the approved garages they use dont do fiberglass work. the approved garage the car is at now said they are happy to work with it.
i know i will never go back to these insurers again
the parts i need now are
left hand front wing
left hand wing undershield
bonnet lock
bonnet lock panel
lock plate
left hand head light
head lamp panel
the list looks a lot healthier now

I am not an expert but I do know that due to your statertry rights you don't have to have your insurers repair the car, you can ahve your car repaired by anybody you like. If they deem the car to be beyond economic repair, but you get a quote from a garage of your choice saying that they can repair the car for a figure less than the car is worth (or what their repair figure/cost is????), then you are entitled to have the money and have it repaired at a garage of your choice. They won't like you doing this though because they don't make any money out of the salvage of the veichle. I know this works because a friend of mine has done it several times, had the money and repaired himself. I may have got a few of the things slightly wrong, but I am deffinate that it can be done. But as said, they don't like it and you will have to fight. Just mention your stateratry rights. If you want more details I can ask my friend and pm you with the exact procedures you must follow.

when some 1 went in the back of my previous scooby the engineer came out and said i could have the car taken to there approved garage or get a cash in lieu figure
The engineer qouted for all brand new parts and i ended up with a nice fat cheque and sold the car the way it was
Might be worth askin about a cash in lieu figure

the approved garage the car was taken to is the same garage my car had come from the day before. they have been really good about it all and its them that has agreed to repair the car. most parts are repairable apart from the list i have posted.
i am again waiting on a call from the insurers today as they phoned me last night and asked me what the problems were. this was after i asked them where to send a complaint to
