Tyres for a track day
#1
Hi,
I am after a set of part-worn 16"s. Looking to pay a "symbolic" price -- you are going to throw them away anyway, and I've got an option of upping the pressure on my road tyres to 50 psi (as per Mike@PD's post) which costs nothing...
Please let me know.
Cheers

How about some part worn slicks? £20 each and they usually last at least two track days. Got a spare set in my garage at the moment. Much more fun than treaded tyres.

Stuart,
Thanks for the offer but I just want standard tyres - not as harsh on brakes and suspension, plus will hopefully let me learn a bit about the handling of the car (for real life application).

Hi,
Do NOT run your tyres at 50 psi. You will be completely wasting your day. I haven't seen what has been said on the other thread, but be assured that your car will feel like crap. Full stop! No arguments! Don't care what anyone else has to say to the contrary!
When is your track day? If you are still working out Frimley Green way I may have some suitable tyres (and wheels which may be gold) if your timing is right. Otherwise you could try calling some of your local tyre places, but be sure that you don't get a damaged set. Easy to check when the tyres are not mounted on the wheels.
If it's an SIDC day, Tyres Northampton will be in attendence and could have something suitable.

Ive got 4 Toyo T1-pluses, which are the forerunner to the Toyo Proxies. 205/50ZR16 87W. They have a lot of tread left on them, certainly enough for 3 if not 4 track days. Make me an offer!
