Looking around for an oldish mini tower (read cheap lol) Pentium II or higher
#1
Anyone got any base units around to fit this description.
Have been offered a Pentium II 300MhZ 64Mb Ram with 5Gb HD for £25, was wondering if i could get anything a bit better.
I'm just gonna install Windows 98 and then use it as a mp3/back-up machine.
Cheers

LOL, no i didn't mean that sonic.
As it turns out i have just finished helping a friend out with a re-install and upgrade and they have given me the old system (as stated above ). The hard drive doesn't sound too healthy (very, very noisy) and modem and sound board are goosed.
When i opened the mini tower everything was covered in a 'carpet' of dust (was about 5mm to 10mm in some places ), so i guess this hasn't done much good to the above components.
Gonna try and source another hard drive now.
Cheers

I have an old P166 which is fine for mp3's and the like, ide disks are dirt cheap these days too
I just been given 4 fast wide ultra scsi 2 disks each in their own little external boxes, only 4Gb each, but just what I need for my studio PC

Just found a driver for the onboard sound ESS1938S chipset, all works but the 'Bass & Treble' are greyed out - need to find a newer driver methinks
Sonic, thats gonna be my exact use for this as well - now that i got my own batchelor pad!! Previous girlfriend stopped me from doing this kind of stuff lol
Thinking along the lines of : -
Mini tower hidden away, with black flat screen and mouse ontop of pre/power amp and CD player combo.
