Londoner Living In Newport Saying Hi
Well folks, after Cannon Fodders invitation in my original hello post in the general forum, I thought I should say hi in the Welsh section. I moved to South Wales just over a year ago after being offered a decent job down here and haven't looked back since. The people are great and the fact that the rent from my ex council studio flat in london pays for a nice detached house here doesn't hurt either! I'm the proud owner of a 56 plate WRX SL in black, which is my first Scooby, bought at the end of 2012. Being my first Scooby, the car more than kept me satisfied for quite a while but the time has come where I want more! So after a full Afterburner decat exhaust with Raptor back box, and a K&N panel filter, the car is going in to Indigo GT on Friday next week for a remap. I can't wait for the promised transformation!
Anyway, this seems like a cool place to be and I'm looking forward to meeting more local Scooby nutters!
Cheers!

Newporter living in London (and occasional lurker on here for old time's sake) says hi! Glad you're liking it down there.
I grew up in the "posh part of Newport" (behind the Civic), but went the other way to London - about 30 years ago now. My brother is still there so I go back often and, as you say the difference in the cost of living makes me madly jealous each time.
As you are probably discovering there are some incredible roads/scenery around there too so enjoy.

Hello again, glad to see you find this section in the end.
Like I said before we don't all bite, although perhaps up the 'Valley's' they may well still do and if you listen closely enough up there you are bound to hear a banjo and guitar played in harmony.
Try and make it to a meet if you are interested, the next meet of SWS is on the 15th of January and details are in the meet thread.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Trooper, I already have a Walbro pump ready to fit, I just forgot to mention that in my post, but thanks anyway man.
Lol, I do venture in to valleys from time to time as I have a customers that I visit in Ebbw Vale and Mountain Ash. Haven't quite got sick altitude sick yet, although my ears have certainly popped as I've descended down the Heads Of The Valleys Road!
Hi Fatboy, the posh part of Newport I live in is Langstone, but I know where you mean. I do miss London but I go back and visit often, cos funnily enough, my brother still lives there. You are right about some of the roads and the scenery here, amazing!
I defo want to start coming to some meets, Cannon Fodder, won't be able to do 15th but will certainly show my face at one in the near future. Lol, we have a few valley dwellers working at the company I work for in Cwmbran and they all seem pleasant enough, haven't been bitten yet anyway!
It's good to hear so many people recommend Indigo GT. I really can't wait to drive my car with its new found power!
Hey LWC, it's ok, I can't find the old sheepskin jacket, my wife must dumped it before we moved here lol.

Haha, I better watch out then, I've gone a little crazy with my wallet over the last few weeks. New wheels, spoiler, all the supporting mods for my remap next week, and the 50k service....not cheap. My wife is normally very reasonable but I think that I'm at my limit for a few months now. I've already played the "well you do have a pony" card too lol.

Hi Chris Welcome
I'm also a newby on here and made the move from the London area, But didn't quite make it as far west as I'd like, just to Somerset lol.
Nice to see another Hawkeye Wrx SL , mine is blue and stock at moment. I'll be interested to see how yours goes after the remap with your mods.
Look forward to catching up with you at a meet.
You joining the run down to Brean for the rally on the 26th?

I specifically wanted an SL model because the only thing, IMHO, that let's the Impreza down is the interior, and the SL at least goes some way to addressing that. The heated seats aren't bad on a cold morning either! Once I've got my sti spoiler painted and fitted I will post some pics.
Won't be on the run to Brean this time as to be honest I'm a bit of a hermit this time of year, but come spring time I defo want to start taking a more active part in the scene, so I'm sure I will catch up with you guys in the near future.

Hi mate, yes, there are some not so posh areas on Langstones doorstep....Ringland springs to mind! Hey, I'm very very far from being posh myself though! The only reason I can afford to live in Langstone is cos of the massive difference in property prices here compared to where I'm from. I own an ex council studio flat in a **** area just outside NW London, and the rent I get from letting that gets me a nice 3 bed detached house with garage and en suite here! Its one of the reasons I moved....property prices in SE England are a total joke.

Hi Chris
I'm from nr Bromley, South London. But I know Hemel as my ex was from there.
My SL was first I'd seen and had to look up what it was lol.
And yes I love the heated seats at this time of year too.
Shame about Brean as there will be a lot of scoobs going. Bit of a scoobfest : )
Will be interested to see pics and hear how the mapping goes.

Yeah, I do plan to get a used set of Sti Brembos and some handling upgrades at some point, but think I better treat the wife to a holiday first lol, so those mods will have to wait a few months. I have already upgraded the standard brake pads to EBC Yellow Stuff ones, and just that simple mod has greatly improved the braking over the crap standard ones.
On a less happy note, I curbed my NSF wheel at the weekend, only fitted them brand new a month ago, nice set of black Pro Race 1.2 18's. Typical, drove for over a year with the standard alloys and didn't get a scratch on them! Oh well, its not too bad, I reckon a bit of black paint will touch it up well enough for now.
Oh yeah, I found someone to paint and fit my Sti spoiler. He has quoted me £150, which I don't think is cheap, but think its reasonable. The bloke has a very good reputation locally for good quality paintwork. What do you guys think of that price?
