Default banner stand

Hi all,

as in a previous post, re SWS banner....... you are all aware that we have acquired a banner 10ft x 3ft free of charge courtesy of total car magazine (total impreza).
However, I have been trying my hardest to acquire a banner frame to display our club banner but companies are not too forthcoming in helping us...... therefore I was wondering if SWS members were prepared to contribute towards buying a frame?

If you are willing to contribute towards a frame please list your name below, so I can finalise numbers and costings - and hopefully a good deal with a frame company. Many thanks Craig

Why not make one out of PVC tubing, I had one made for my banner at 2m x 1m iirc and the frame is larger than that.

Was £20 all in, the top bar has a smaller pipe inside it for strength.

As Jimbob says, make a frame like that but you could get a bag of sand/cement and fill it so it's a bit weightier!

Tbh it coped with wind, just needed some weight over the rear, which we used a spare wheel.

I still have the frame if its wanting be used for Rally-Day??

As it`s waste water pipe it should be water tight so for the weight you could fill the pipes with water to hold it down???

Step forward Sws pipe stranglers!! ( merv that includes you!!!)

Yeah I'd put a couple of quid in no problem, me and to the other half are in the middle of buying a house at the mo so things are a bit tighter, but I dare say we could come to an arrangement!!!

Most suppliers are quoting around the £150 delivered region. I know it is quite steep but, these are the real dealfor 10ft x 3ft banners and easily collapse to fit in the boot , and I for one am useless at DIY!!!!!!

£150?? Really??
We could have fliers made, and even SWS flags for that!!

Sorry Jimbob but I think we are better than waste pipe. Vauxhall, yes. SWS, not really.

Well waste £150 on a banner stand then lol, its the banner thats of importance, not the frame.
Personally fliers, and promotional stuff would be better than wasting it on a stand to be used a couple of times a year.

Plus I never got around to triming the frame so it wasn`t so obvious.

A nice heavy frame made up of 22/28mm copper tube should suffice! Paint it any colour you want then! Rob, it doesn't have to be pressure tested so your soldering should be just fine (Max has told me about your efforts )

I agree with Ian, I think that a professionally made banner is going to look pants if it's on a stand that looks like it's been 'thrown together', however Merv's idea for painted copper pipe is well worth investigating.

Looks like some if your scrap copper piping might going missing Rob/Merv you can always blame the Pikies.

i could make one up for you out of 1 inch angle , same stuff i made the car ramps out of , but it would have to be in bits , for transportation , but a few nuts and bolts shouldnt be a problem .
let me know if thats any good

not sure could use 1/2 inch , i think the length is the problem as it will have to be in sections.
just contacted one of my customers , might be able to get a proper one , hes getting back to me with a price ,

i think so the only question he had was the banner size for the 10x3 is normally less , by a few inches each way , that then sits with cable ties inside the frame

Hi all, its been a while, did think I would have a sponsored frame by now, but, the people I thought were helping us are dragging their heels, therefore, it looks like we will have to buy our own - with our hard earned sorry!!!

I can get a banner stand for £112 and it will be here for Saturdays show!!

I really need names if you are prepared to contribute... Thanks

Come on if 20 of those attending Rally Day pay it only works out at £5.60 each, less than a gallon of V Power.
