Turbo and Carbon Fibre Advise
Evening guys
I am currently running a TD05 20G turbo on my bug. The engine is a 2.5 and pushing about 380bhp / 410 ft Ib with this turbo. I know I should be sensible and think this is enough but on the way back from last weeks meet my neighbour was pulling away form me and he has a virtually standard bug with a sport cat exhaust and a remap (how childish!!). I would love to say he got the drop on me but it happened twice!
What would be the next turbo to go for?
Also, my bonnet is carbon fibre. Not cracked but the lacquer is faded in places. Probably a rub down and a respray, same goes for the bonnet! Anybody point me in the right direction of somebody with expertise?
Cheers
David

What other supporting mods have you got? Are you running a 5 or 6 speed? If 5 then I'd say you're on borrowed time! Here's a nice turbo for you

Either ur neighbour has more done than he's letting on or there is something worng with ur car and its not making anywhere near what u think it is....
A Bug STI with a sportcat and re-map would be luckly to do 350bhp with similar torque so if thats pulling away from ur car (also a bug so same weight) then ur car aint running more power and torque than it....
Where did u get the 20G from?? and as said who mapped the car??

The first one was meant to be deleted
On a JA Warehouse 20g, Simon (JGM) squeezed 390/370 from my 2.0 Blob STi with exhaust mods, OEM injectors, CAiK, Walbro and headers! He wound the timing back as it was detting at the top and ended up at 380/365 ! With a better 20g, say an Andy Forrest one, a good mapper should make that car pretty much fly!

Have got an avcr boost controller but definitely on right setting, 1.68 bar. I am not saying it is slow just a bit surprised. Maybe he is a bit more brutal with his right foot than me!

If your neighbour has a WRX (td04) or STi (vf30) then he might get the drop on you if he was in the right gear and you weren't, as the td05 will take longer to spool up being a larger turbo.
Plus if he got a WRX then his gearing will be different to yours as well.
Assuming he's got a remapped WRX with a td04 then he will be around 280bhp, then he will spool quicker than you, and let's be honest once rolling and in the right gears 100bhp difference in your favour hardly means you're going to pull away in fast and furious style.
